WIN 1 of 20 copies of How to Be Perfect by Holly Wainwright, thanks to Allen & Unwin.

The bestselling author of The Mummy Bloggers is back with another page-turning, rip-roaring story about mums, phones and the cult of self-improvement.

In the rolling green hills of Australia’s hippest hinterland, a new guru is blogging about her breakfast.

ELLE CAMPBELL is back, holed up in an exclusive retreat where women pay thousands to mimic her extreme lifestyle, or die trying. But who’s bankrolling Elle’s new empire? And why are her two tiny sons suddenly absent from her glossy public image?

ABI BLACK just wants to marry her true love under a tree in the garden on New Year’s Eve. But her ex-husband is building a financial cult in the shed, Elle is looming and her teenage daughter’s YouTube channel is gaining followers for all the wrong reasons. The wedding might have to wait.

FRANCES GRAHAM has a colicky newborn, an absent husband and a WhatsApp mothers’ group that’s giving her anxiety. But she’s certain that if she can just be more like those fitmums on Instagram, things can only get better. And surely, if she can scrape enough money together to make it to Elle’s retreat, everything in her life will be just . . . perfect.

Through a world of fake gurus, green smoothies and bad influencers, How to Be Perfect follows Elle, Abi and Frankie into the cult of self-improvement that’s taking over your phone . . . and your breakfast.

  • Sally Field because she seems so down to earth and I loved her in the flying nun!

  • Tom Hanks! That guy is, quite simply, REAL!! AND his wife is REAL as well, which makes them a REALLY wonderful couple!!

  • Gordon Ramsay. He is hilarious and cooks awesome food!

  • Greer Garson, she epitomised elegance and acted in an age where life mattered more than material items. Mrs Minniver is my all time favourite screen mother and I wish I could just get on with life the way she did! Thanks.

  • It has to be Mr. John Mayer. His music is awesome plus his sense of humor is even better. You have to check out his tweets or Instagram stories to see how cool and funny he is and how he is like all of us. He is the best time pass on Instagram if he puts stories or he goes live.

  • I adore Oprah Winfrey. Her wit and intelligence along with a caring heart is an interesting combination. I kinda miss her on daily television, but love that she still works when she wants too.

  • Hugh Jackman has talent galore,
    He is never a bore!
Can even act on the live stage,
    And doesn’t look his age!

  • My favourite celebrity was from the world of “self-improvement” – Wayne Dyer. I loved watching him change from a very self absorbed “go getter” to a father of 8 who became a quiet and humble man. He made mistakes but through example has shown peace in acceptance.

  • Duchess Megan! I think she is being a good role model, and caring and compassionate. And beautiful too!

  • Jennifer Garner, while her family is in turmoil she holds her head up high and gets her shit done with grace and dignity.

  • Hugh Grant. Brilliant actor, responsible for some of my favourite movies but scandal follows him, he’s never boring. No, I wouldn’t like to meet him – he has been everywhere, and I like to keep my house clean – for the kids. But even a mention of him has me tittering.

  • Delta Goodrem is my favourite celebrity. She has overcome cancer and remained positive during her treatment. She is also an ambassador for the starlight foundation, donating her time to help seriously ill children – so kind and admirable of her!

  • Hugh Jackman. He sings, he dances, he acts, he smiles when he talks and he loves his wife so much. A perfect gentleman. And an Australian who has made a successful career in Hollywood.

  • Michelle Obama – she has really empowered young girls to get an education and grow up to be strong, mature, educated women who can take on anything and everything!

  • I love Celeste Barber – she is intelligent , funny and not afraid to have a laugh at herself.

  • Dame Helen Mirren as she is a great example of how to age and still have an influence on things happening round you.

  • My favourite celebrity is Ed Sheeran and is belief that everybody is different but we should all be equal

  • Tom Cruise. Honestly the gossip that goes around scientology is so incredibly interesting plus he still gets some pretty top roles and he is getting on. Clever, Wierd and very interesting.

  • Author Anne Rice. She writes the most engaging stories and supports her children to follow their dreams, including collaborating with her son for some books!

  • Sandra Bullock because she is honest and genuine and keeps to herself but makes great movies.
