Cooking with my kids is special during the cold months, keeping them active and entertained is always challenging but I found that they love creating delicious treats.

The cooler days mean I’m no longer avoiding heating up the house and instead, I fill it with the aroma of fresh bakes – there is nothing more homely than that!

Autumn is the time of year when we all need comfort food, home made cakes are just what this cold weather asks for.

I love baking for my family and friends any time, Autumn is special though because I can bake with seasonal fruit such as rhubarb, passionfruit, pear and citrus, picked fresh from my garden and baked with love.

It’s a very relaxing and comforting way to spend an Autumn’s day indoors! It’s exciting and lots of fun to bake your favourite recipes or new recipes, and enjoy them with your family and loved ones afterwards.

I love baking in this weather – there’s nothing better than preparing a delicious and nourishing meal for your loved ones using the season’s produce. I’ve included a picture of my favourite chicken and veggie pie which I made for my lovely housemates hence the FDA for Francine, Danielle and Aleesha. There’s also nothing better than snuggling up afterward for a nice warm treat for dessert!

There’s a lot more hot meals in Autumn, the salads get a side step, I start baking yummy cakes, biscuits and puddings to keep us all warm.

Baking is so therapeutic but even better in Autumn as you no longer have to worry about it being too hot to stay in the kitchen, or the temperature for certain bakes, its also beautiful to look outside and see all the lovely Autumn colours which baking, really inspirational.

Autumn is welcome relief from the plague of flies that summer brings in Queensland while trying to bake. I can finally start to bake with the doors open.

There is nothing better than something baking in the oven on an Autumn day. The oven makes the home cosier.
