Now You Can Recycle Your Balloons

ZURU are inspiring Aussie kids to be conscious consumers. Bunch O Balloons stems and caps are now not only made with 100% fully certified traceable post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic materials and they can be recycled in a free consumer programme.

ZURU Co-Founder and COO Anna Mowbray said passionate Bunch O Balloons fans made it “very clear to us” that as much as they love a good water fight they value and respect the planet.

“It was on the back of enormous enthusiasm from consumers as well as deeply held determination within ZURU’s production teams that we invested heavily in Bunch O Balloons manufacturing to make considerable changes to our processes,” said Mowbray.

2nd Life For The Balloons

After each epic water fight, fans are encouraged to collect the foil packaging, caps and stems, download a printable free shipping label and send them to TerraCycle at no cost for recycling. Recycled plastic goes onto a second life, turned into ‘nurdles’ used to create playground equipment, park benches, picnic tables and more.

“We’re committed to inspiring low cost fun and enabling everyone to participate in our recycling programme as part of building a zero-waste mindset in kids, says Mowbray.

  • We always use our recycling bin and ask the question ‘can we use this for something else instead of throwing it’

  • With the introduction of containers for change, my boys are gun ho on seeing what items we can recycle. All items we can take to return we do, and my boys love watching the bottles go on the conveyor belt. Anything we can’t take back but can still recycle they happily take to our recycling bin, knowing that they will be reused for other products.

  • I make sure my children do not use plastic straws and always teach them to recycle paper they draw on , you can always wipe spills from the floor with it.

  • Always encourage the kids to recycle so it doesn’t become landfill, great little money earner is the bottle returns and the kids love the $ they get from it. Always try and encourage buying fruit and veg without packaging like the good old days.
