  • Use the REDcycle bins at supermarkets to recycle ‘scrunchable’ plastics.


  • Don’t be afraid to start a vegie garden, anyone can grow vegies! Compost your household scraps, make your own very rich soil, grow your own spuds, lettuce etc. Introduce your family to a new household pet, the family worm farm!


  • Recycle and reuse as much as possible, it’s really easy to do and it feel great.


  • Always be mindful of the amount of waste your household is creating. Buy less, re-use, recycle and mulch!


  • When I shower, I bring a mop bucket in there with me..I then use the water to clean the outside dog area, so as to preserve water.


  • I have a cupboard loaded with containers of varying sizes. Not a single item is wrapped for my kids lunches so no rubbish is made.

  • TAKE YOUR OWN BAG WHEN GOING SHOPPING


  • Using reusable produce bags! We leave them in the car so we are never caught without. I’m always asked about them at the supermarket and love passing on the details, knowing that I might have helped reduce more waste through others!


  • We grow some vegies, lots of citrus, some nuts and stone fruit. We also have a raised garden bed to put our weeds, paper and scraps into. We have very little rubbish and only go to the tip once a month. We have solar panels on the roof for electricity and hot water too.


  • Check out your local recycling facilities so you know what you can spot putting the landfill. Take the kids on the Council’s tip tour so they see the volume of landfill and get on board too!


  • Reuse everything you can and if you can’t reuse it, don’t purchase it!


  • Use a washing machine, that both saves on power and water. When the washing is done, hang it out on the line in the sun.


  • We compost all of our organic waste – being fruit peels, onion peels, etc. It provides so much nutrients to the soil, for which we grow our very own vegetables to enjoy at home!


  • I Use reusable fruit an vege shopping bags, leave the plastic on the roll and save the planet!


  • To reuse or recycle what ever you can and to use as few a thing as possible and to only buy what you really need.


  • Don’t try to make your life sustainable in all aspects straight away, take one step at a time
