Paper towels add up fast in a busy home, especially with kids and pets in the mix. But after putting reusable wipes to the test, reviewers are officially done with the use-and-toss routine.

The Mouths Of Mums Oates Earthly review team put the game-changing bamboo wipes through their paces all over the house. From everyday spills and quick clean-ups to grotty stovetops and ovens, they made light work of household mess, all while reducing carbon footprints.

A dream for kitchen benches (especially after the morning cereal rush), reusable wipes look to be the sustainable helper Aussie kitchens have been waiting for.

One wipe replaces up to 80 paper towels

That’s 80 fewer paper towels going straight into kitchen bins. Plus, when a single reusable wipe can do the job of dozens of sheets, it means less of the budget is spent on restocking. And that’s a big win for every household.

Here’s what reviewers have to say:

“So our household uses paper towels all the time, we go through so many rolls a week. To find an environmentally friendly alternative to this is amazing. We have been conscious of slowly changing our household to more environmentally options so this couldn’t come at a better time.”

“I also like that they can be rinsed, reused & are washable up to 80 times, that’s basically a whole roll of paper towel in one wipe. They feel durable, practical & it’s nice knowing they’re a bit kinder to the planet while still being affordable.”

A-grade absorption

Let’s be honest, “soak factor” is a big deal when it comes to household towels and wipes, and some products just don’t hit the mark. But fans were quick to comment on just how much Oates Earthly reusable wipes actually absorb.

“… the Oates Earthly Bamboo wipes are thick, strong, absorbs very well and you only will need a single wipe for large spills and then throw them in the washing machine.”

They are described as sturdy and capable across all kinds of kitchen chaos, and importantly, they wash well. A quick rinse with dishwashing liquid or a run through the washing machine has them squeaky clean and ready to use again and again.

“I’ve been trying the Oates reusable bamboo wipes to clean my kitchen. I love how strong they are but also how gentle they are on my kitchen surfaces, particularly the glass on my cooktop! I love that they are easy to wash and reuse and how economical they are compared to rolls of paper towel.”

“The wipe doesn’t disintegrate in their hand like some paper towels do”

Tough on mess, gentle on surfaces

If you thought a wipe tough enough to tackle spills and grime couldn’t possibly be soft, think again. Reviewers love how gentle these wipes feel on hands and household surfaces.

“Love how soft these are! Was expecting to be harsher, but they definitely weren’t. Pick up all the grease and grime well and live that they can be reused up to 80 times! I’m not a big fan of paper towel, so having something reusable is a big win for me.”

“The reusable bamboo wipe is washing-machine friendly and still keeps its ability to clean. The material is very soft and able to clean mess without scratching any hard or delicate surface. It is a must have item in your kitchen. Love how I don’t have to keep buying paper towel every week.”

  • These look like a great idea. We use a lot of paper kitchen towels. Would be good to use something more environmentally friendly. I’m presuming it would be more cost effective too which is always a bonus these days with the cost of living going up. Think I’ll give them a go

  • What a nice review to read. I haven’t tried these wipes yet but I like the idea of reusable wipes. I do however quite often reuse a wt wipe. They way you use these wipes sounds just very similar with the way we use a counter cloth, so in that regards no difference. And for some spills I prefer to use an ordinary paper towel, for example for wiping up bird poo or cat poo

  • I haven’t tried these particular wipes, but I have been using reusable wipes for near on two decades. I went to Costco, and bought a bundle of wipes which were made out of nappy like material. Years later only one has become so gross that we had to throw it out – we’re still washing and reusing the others.

  • These wipes have been a game changer for me. I find paper towels to be such a necessity but I hate the single usa aspect of them. I love that I can get so many uses out of these wipes without compromising on effectiveness of cleaning. I’ve been switching up my cleaning products for a while now, opting for less packaging and items that can do a few jobs. Citric acid as a washing machine cleaner has been the best switch so far. It’s cheap, not a harsh chemical to expose myself to, and does a great job removing any scrud and build up in my tub
