Article Five year old cut free from parents’ handcuffs

A five-year-old Victorian boy who tried on a pair of handcuffs he found in his parents’ bedroom had to be cut out of them when his mum couldn’t find the key.

The boy found the handcuffs in his dad’s drawer on Tuesday night and tried them on, only for his mother to realise they couldn’t take them off.

He was taken to the Narre Warren police station in a bid to get the cuffs off, before a CFA firefighter with bolt cutters was called in to free him.

Oops!  Well that is a bit embarrassing.  It pays to put your “toys” up high, mum & dad.

  • We were always taught as kids that you don’t go into your parents’ room unless you know you are allowed to at any time, certainly not alone…That was their space…..I wonder if the key was found later? Not that it will be of any use now.

  • No! We have definitely not had this experience or anything similar experience. I can only imagine how upsetting it would have been for the young boy to be in the handcuffs and quite embarrassing for the parents.
