I hate cleaning my oven, mainly due to the awful and very strong smell of the oven cleaners you buy at the shops. There is a solution though! Did you know that you can get your oven sparkling without the nasty chemicals?

What you’ll need:

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar

Method:

  1. Mix some baking soda with a little water to make a paste and spread all over the oven.
  2. Leave overnight.
  3. The next day, spray white vinegar all over the oven which will make the baking soda fizz.
  4. Close the door and leave for a couple of hours.
  5. Scrub in circular motions to remove grime.
  6. Rinse cloth and repeat until all the baking soda is removed.
  7. If your oven is extremely dirty, you may need to repeat the process.

  • Fantastic. It seems vinegar and baking soda are magic. I use Koh on my oven and it works a treat.

  • I used dishwashing liquid it easily removes heavier grease in oven just rub in and leave for 1/2 hr come back and clean away. Anything that’s not too harsh and environmentally friendlier has to be better.

  • If the racks are black with built on grime cover them in the paste and soak in a bathtub overnight with a mixture of vinegar and water. Sprinkling some salt on the paste works too the grit helps lift the grime.

  • I’ve since found a new product called Koh. The grease on the glass oven door got so bad I didn’t think I’d ever get it clean again. Then I found Koh and let’s just say the rest is history. You spray it on and wait for a minute or 2 then use the diamond sponge and very gently use it in a circular pattern then just wipe it off with the cloth. With very little effort I cleaned my whole oven in about 15minutes. There is no smell and I’ve even used it to remove grease from my dog that she’d rolled in with no effects whatsoever.
