I don’t like table cloths as the kids just make them dirty but I do love a table runner in the middle of table for a central display.

I found a 10 minute table runner on Pinterest and it’s so easy.

What you’ll need:

  • material
  • thread
  • buttons (optional)

Steps:

  1. Measure your table and decide how long you want your table runner. I prefer it short so that the kids don’t spill food on it when eating.
  2. Pin then sew 2 pieces of fabric (right sides together) along the long sides with seam.
  3. Turn fabric the right way and iron flat.
  4. Fold fabric in half and sew ends together and iron.
  5. Fold ends and iron and add button if you desire.
  6. Put on your table.

  • The only time I have tablecloths on the table is at Christmas time.

  • I’m not big on table cloths or table runners either for the exact same reason. But this is a quick and simple way to give a table the WOW factor

  • I once wanted to cover the middle of my table because of putting containers of vey hot food on it. It was literally a last minute decision. Fortunately I had a long table cloth – but not as long as the table I was using that day. I folded it in 4 lengthways folding the hems inwards and used it as a runner.
It prevented the table getting scorch marks

  • you still have to have some sewing skills – alas I have none!

  • I’m not a crafty person but I think even I could do this. I love a runner rather than a tablecloth and have found it increasingly hard to find one that suits my house and table. This could be the answer.
