My kids are Bluey crazy and would absolutely love a Bluey playhouse as a backdrop for all their Blue Heeler family adventures.
There’s the “official” Bluey family playset, which you can get from Big W during the Toy Mania sale for $69. This pricey mini-home comes with four small rooms – a kids’ bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge room with some very basic furniture. In my opinion, that’s a lot of dosh for a teeny weeny house. There must be another (and less exxy) way to get a Bluey playhouse for my kids.
Thank goodness, there are some amazingly clever mums out there who have hacked dolls houses to create full-on, sophisticated luxury abodes for our favourite doggy family.
Amazing Bluey Playhouse Hack
One of our favourite sources of inspiration is from Mum Lisa Villaume, who designed a Bluey playhouse using the Kmart wooden treehouse ($39) and assorted dollhouse furniture from Kmart ($9 a set).
The clever mum shared her hack on Facebook saying:
“This was originally a Treehouse from Kmart and lately, Zachary my three-year-old has shown an interest in pretend play. So I decided to make a Bluey doll house for him! It was so much fun hacking this treehouse for him and he loves it.”
I absolutely adore all the extra bits and pieces that she has added – such as the Bluey poster for the wall using kebab sticks and a swing tag from a Bluey plush toy; pot plants using fake foliage and a cut piece of dowl and mini floor rugs using offcuts of hessian and felt.
Other mums have also got creative with the Treehouse hack and the results are just astonishing.
Bluey Accessories
Sarah has shared her Bluey playhouse hack on the Kmart mums facebook page.
I loved that she even gave Bluey and her family a pet dog in a kennel in the front yard. It’s best to buy the family 4-pack with all the Bluey family figurines. There are also some brand new Bluey playsets – such as Blueys playground and Bingo’s playroom, which you can integrate into your Bluey playhouse.
The Creek
Another genius mum has hacked the wooden treehouse to create a fabulous Bluey playhouse complete with a grassy creek. She says that the fake grass and ‘creek’ are also from Kmart.
Mega Mansion
Mum Stacey put together a mega Bluey playhouse mansion, made up of two wooden treehouses, Bluey figurines, wooden dollhouse furniture as well as a train table.
Bluey Dolls House
As an alternative, Kitty converted the standard Kmart dolls house into a Bluey playhouse, complete with painted walls. So cool!
Bluey Castle
Other creative mums have used the Kmart wooden castle playset to make a royal home for Bluey and her family.
We are wackadoo about all these Bluey Kmart playhouse hacks. I can’t wait to make one for my kids.
