Married At First Sight bride Martha Kalifatidis her partner Michael Brunelli have welcomed their first baby, a gorgeous little boy!

Martha shared footage of the pair leaving for hospital yesterday, saying they were off to have their baby.

The couple took to Instagram to reveal their baby boy has finally arrived, and they’ve named him Lucius Brunelli. “He’s here, he’s perfect,” Martha captioned her photo.

Martha’s controversial baby shower

Martha recently celebrated the pending birth of her baby boy with a sweet baby shower – but not everyone was in love with the garden event.

Martha teamed up with retailer Target in a paid partnership for her baby shower, which including Target’s new range of homewares, dining, nursery and Easter products.

Giant paper flowers, dried florals, rattan, neutrals and hints of blue were showcased in the baby shower. Martha captioning her photos: “A day I’ll never forget, for a boy I’ll love forever.”

Many of her 668,000 Instagram followers calling the event ‘perfection’ and ‘beautiful’. However, when Target shared images of the baby shower on its social media accounts, the comments weren’t as positive.

“Dear Target Marketing dept – was this the thought process?” wrote one Target followers.

“Ok lets create our own Kardashian? OTT dreams for pregnant women. The whole set up looks ridiculous, crass and cheap. With many Australians doing it tough this over the top consumerist push is what we need yeah?”

Another commenting, “That’s just ridiculous and way over board … waste of money and time to go over the top like this.” However, others came to Martha’s defence: “Wow so many nasty comments against a pregnant woman … disgusting behaviour ladies.”

Martha and Michael’s gender reveal

It came just days after Martha and her partner Michael Brunelli revealed their baby’s gender in one of the most unique ways we’ve ever seen!

The couple, who are expecting their first baby in just a few weeks, decided to use a stunning ring from Armans Fine Jewellery to announce they’re having a boy. However, Martha has admitted she was ‘devastated’ when she first found out she was having a son.

“Guys I was 100% sure I was having a girl, like I had only opened girl clothing tabs on my phone, I was so convinced,’ she told KISS FM’s Will & Woody. ‘There was no chance in my mind it was going to be a boy, I had planned my whole life for this girl. I’ll be so honest with you guys. At the beginning, I was devastated like I was so upset. It took me a few days to like come to terms with it.”

Congratulations to Martha and Michael on their baby boy!

Martha was candid throughout her pregnancy, which was anything but breezy.

She opened up, admitting she’s ‘completely lost’ herself. In a refreshingly honest post about pregnancy, Martha says she wanted to share her thoughts so other pregnant women know they’re not alone.

“I don’t know how I can be so up and down,” Martha wrote in a comment on a photo of herself and Michael. “I felt ok yesterday but today I literally feel like⁣ I’m dying.⁣⁣ Last week I spent 4 days straight in the house on⁣⁣ the couch.⁣⁣ I thought maybe covid but I just did a test it’s⁣⁣ negative⁣⁣. ⁣

“I have a sore throat, no energy AT ALL. ⁣I’m hot and⁣ cold. Don’t want to get out of bed⁣. ⁣I forced myself to get up and go get food just for⁣⁣ some momentum,⁣ but I couldn’t even get myself out of⁣ the car once we arrived.⁣⁣ ⁣

“Yesterday my due date was pushed back to the 6th of⁣ March⁣ an extra week!⁣⁣ Every hour feels like a day⁣ I have work commitments looming over my head and⁣ can’t help but feel like I’ve completely neglected⁣ everything I worked so hard to build.⁣⁣⁣

“I feel like I’m at breaking point.⁣⁣ I need to vent, I⁣ spend all my waking hours sitting⁣⁣ alone with my own thoughts⁣ which are grim atm.⁣⁣ I know how lucky I am and what a miracle it is to⁣ carry a child.⁣⁣ ⁣

“All I’ve felt for 8 months is suffering.⁣ ⁣ I want to scream!⁣⁣ I’ve completely lost myself. I feel like I’ll never⁣ feel normal or like myself again!⁣⁣ ⁣ “I know I’m hormonal. What ever that means!!!⁣⁣ I feel like a selfish bitch even writing this but⁣⁣ in the hope I’m not alone I’m sharing with you.”

When the couple revealed their pregnancy in September last year, the detailed how difficult the first few weeks had been for Martha, who suffered from HG, or severe morning sickness.

“It hasn’t been this exciting wonderful time for us,” Martha said.  “I don’t want to sound like I am complaining, we are so excited, we are so happy. It was a complete surprise.

“But at five weeks I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, which is basically severe chronic nausea and vomiting with no relief. It is like 24/7. I literally did not get out of bed for two months, I was so sick. I could not eat or drink anything. There were days that I did not even get up to pee.”

Martha revealed she lost 10kg in five weeks and had multiple trips to hospital.

“Here in Melbourne I’m seeing an amazing doctor and she has given me some medication which has literally been life-changing. It is helping me to feel human again and to start moving around again,” Martha said. The couple explained that they had wanted to share the news, but had kept it under wraps because they thought it was too early to announce the pregnancy.

The pair discovered Martha’s pregnancy while on holiday in Italy, and Michael revealed that while in Istanbul before they knew they were expecting, they opened a fortune cookie with the message, ‘A new baby is coming into your family’.

The couple announced their engagement in December 2021, after finding love with each other on Married At First Sight in 2019.
