Art lovers, mark your calendars, the Sydney Incognito Art Show is back, bigger and bolder than ever. This year, the acclaimed Archibald Prize winner Laura Jones will be contributing three artworks to the lineup.

For those who may not be familiar, the Incognito Art Show began in 2021 and has since become one of Australia’s biggest and most inclusive art shows. Unlike an ordinary art sale, every piece of artwork is in a standard A5 size and is sold for a fixed price of $100, regardless of the artist.

Here’s the twist: the artist’s identity remains a secret until you purchase the piece – a surprise revealed only on the back of the artwork. This creates a level playing field for artists of all levels to exhibit their work, as buyers are drawn purely to the artwork, not the artist’s name.

This year, some of Australia’s most celebrated artists are taking part, including the last two Archibald Prize winners; Julia Gutman and Blak Douglas, alongside Laura Jones.

Additionally, there are 24 finalists across the highly prestigious Archibald, Wynne, and Sulman Prizes participating, featuring names like Emily Crockford, Thom Roberts, Daniel Kim, and more.

The not-for-profit art show expects 15,000 original artworks to be exhibited and sold from July 13th. Profits from the 2024 Incognito Art Show sale will support Studio A, which provides professional development for artists with intellectual disabilities, and We Are Studios, a fully disability-led, inclusive studio empowering artists.

Laura Jones, Co-Founder of Incognito added, “Incognito is a fun and inclusive way to enliven the arts scene. Both Studio A and We Are Studios are organisations that work tirelessly to support artists. Their artists contribute immensely to arts, culture and the greater community.”
