A 39-year-old preschool teacher, pregnant with her fourth child, has died suddenly, leaving her family heartbroken.

Megan Fisher died on October 5, leaving behind her partner, Wagga Wagga police officer Matthew Owen, and three sons Josh, 19, Zac, 17, and Levi, nine. She was expecting her fourth baby when she died.

NSW Police Legacy has raised almost $50,000 in donations to help the grieving family.

“Tragically, on Wednesday, 5 October 2022 Matt’s long term partner died suddenly aged 39, leaving the family heart broken,” the fundraiser explained. “We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to assist Matt and the boys following this sudden and tragic event. All funds raised will be used to help ease the financial burden on the family during this difficult time and provide ongoing support for their future.”

Goodstart Early Learning Estrella, where Megan worked, said her passing was sudden and tragic.

“Megan has been a beloved and valued member of our team for many years, working at our centre as well as with NSW Health as a nutritionist,” the centre wrote on Facebook.

“She was an amazing, caring and dedicated educator, who had a passion for creating beautiful learning environments and sharing her knowledge of health and nutrition within the classroom environment. Megan was someone who was warm and kind and easily made beautiful reciprocal relationships with the children in her care. She was a wonderful, inspiring and generous educator, coworker and friend. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.”

Friends have also taken to social media with their own messages.

“Megan Fisher you had the most incredible spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew you,” wrote Kelly Flack. “I have absolutely no words right now. We had so much fun and I will never ever forget the good times.”

The cause of her death hasn’t been made public.
