As a mum of children with extremely dry skin, I am constantly looking for solutions that will help to soothe their skin and keep them feeling comfortable.
It’s devastating to witness my daughter constantly scratching, and when her dry skin is scratched, it becomes worse and spirals into a cycle that is difficult to get under control.
The tricky part for me has been knowing which product to use, as our needs change depending on the season, weather and many other environmental factors. If her skin is looking good (which sometimes can happen after a trip to the beach or a salt water pool), we tend to get lazy and not moisturise (because 6 year olds have better things to do, right?).
The Problem With Taking A Break
The creams we had been using for her extremely dry skin feel oily and messy – so it is understandable that she wants a break from applying them during an occasional clear skin day. The problem with taking a break is that her skin will soon spiral out of control again, and be very difficult to get back under control.
Everything Is Easier With Dermeze
I have learned that I need to constantly feed my daughter’s thirsty skin a variety of different products, so I was extremely relieved to recently discover the Dermeze MoistureMatch range. The range consists of 5 wonderful products, which have helped make the process of selecting which product to use and when to use it a whole lot easier.
With cleverly labelled packaging (to help select the most appropriate moisture intensity) to colour coding so you can easily identify one product from the other, everything is easier with Dermeze. The range is even free of a whole lot of things that I like to avoid, including fragrances, colours, parabens and lanolin. It is also pH-balanced, dermatologist tested and non-irritant.
So How Does The Dermeze MoistureMatch range Work?
To enable parents to select the level of hydration suitable to their child’s changing skin needs, the Dermeze range packaging is cleverly categorised by colour-coding and Moisture Intensity droplets on a scale of one to five. The number of droplets on each Dermeze product indicates the level of moisturising intensity, from light to intense hydration. This allows mums like me to select a high moisture intensity product such as the Dermeze Treatment cream when my little one’s skin is dry, and a lower moisture intensity product such as the Dermeze Moisturising Lotion, when her skin is looking good! There is even a handy MoistureMatch tool on the Dermeze website, which helps you decide which product use for your little one’s skin.
Don’t just take my word for it! We had a team of MoM’s put the Dermeze MoistureMatch Range to the test!
With the onset of winter, many of our members have been struggling to find the right skincare products to help their little ones dry, sensitive skin. So we sent some of our members the full Dermeze MoistureMatch range and asked them what they thought. Here is what they had to say….
Why did you apply for your child/children to be a part of the Dermeze MoistureMatch trial?
My son has sensitive and dry skin, we bath him everyday and this contributes to his dry skin sometimes. – Melissa
Both my children have eczema and my son’s skin is always scaly and dry causing him to scratch, which worries me as he often breaks the skin and it’s distressing. I have tried so many creams but it hasn’t helped – Hope
My son suffers from eczema flare-ups with the change of seasons and over winter – Rebecca
My kids both have dry sensitive skin and I wanted to find a product that worked for them – Stefanie
My allergy, eczema and asthma prone 3 year old in particular struggles with patches on his skin. I was interested to trial a product that would suit keeping his moisture locked in – Jessica
How did our mums find the Dermeze MoistureMatch range?
My son reduced his scratching almost straight away. My daughter told me her skin didn’t feel as irritated and was less red. I have used a lot of different products and this is the first one that has actually done something other than moisturise – Hope
Jessica found the categorisation by colour-coding and Moisture Intensity droplets “extremely useful”. The products trialled fitted perfectly into her daily routine with her 3 year old son. “I moisturise him twice daily morning and night, slotted in just fine to our routine as I do it anyway when he is getting dressed and then again into pjs. Lather in between if there’s time. Helped his flare ups for sure. Kept them at bay without a doubt”.
Stefanie trialled the Dermeze Moisturising Soap Free Wash, Dermeze Moisturising Lotion and the Dermeze Moisturising Cream Dermeze Treatment Cream on her 11 month old and 2 year old. These products were used at least twice a day and fitted well into the children’s routines. Stefanie said “I found them easy to use and very effective. I love that I can use them on my children and myself too.” The range has helped both of my children with their dry sensitive skin and has also helped me with mine. We have used many different moisturisers to try to help with our children’s dry sensitive skin but Dermeze MoistureMatch has been the most effective for us.”
Did you like the MoistureMatch tool on the Dermeze website?
I think this is a very handy tool. I checked it out after trying the products and found out it suggested the exact products I’ve been using. – Rebecca
Yes, I used it prior to starting the products so I knew which ones to use. I found it very useful as the range has a few products and this way I knew which ones to use on each of my kids as their skin is different – Hope
It is a great way to select the correct product – Stefanie
What did you think of the Dermeze MoistureMatch range packaging?
I like that they are each a little different so I can easily grab the right one. I find the pump actions to be very handy when applying to the children because they enjoy pushing it down to pump the cream into my hand.” – Stefanie
Would you buy products from the Dermeze MoistureMatch range again?
Absolutely, the range was fantastic and I used it on my own skin as well as my husbands who has very dry and sensitive skin like my sons. – Melissa
Yes I would continue to use them as the relief it provided my children’s skin was real – Hope
I would buy the wash again, as it seemed quite soothing. – Rebecca
The moisturiser and lotion I will be buying again – Jessica
Yes, I would. I found them easy to use and very effective. I love that I can use them on my children and myself too. – Stephanie
Would our Mums recommend the Dermeze MoistureMatch range to others?
Yes as I have seen the benefits and the product work – Hope
I often get asked for recommendations and will be shouting it out to others with skin in need – Jessica
Absolutely. The range has helped both of my children with their dry sensitive skin and has also helped me with mine. – Stefanie
Yes, I was delighted to try the treatment cream. – Barbie
I would definitely recommend the wash and suggest the range as an option to try – Rebecca
