Parents are being warned about a recall involving a popular Star Wars branded Easter Egg pack from Big W.

The box, containing a children’s torch and 3 milk chocolate eggs, has been pulled from sale at Big W over fears the button batteries in the torch may pose serious safety risks.

“If the torch is dropped on a hard surface the button cell batteries may be released,” the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said in a recall notice posted on their website.

“If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death.

“In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.”

The Star Wars Dyno Torch with Milk Chocolate Eggs pack has been available for sale at Big W stores nationwide between 15 January 2018 – 22 March 2018.

People have been urged to immediately stop using them and return it to their nearest Big W store for a full refund.
