Apple and cinnamon cake

A very easy and reliable cake

Ingredients (serves 6)

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
60 grams butter
1 1/2 Self raising flour
cinnamon and sugar for top
2 apples

Method

Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat well, add flour and milk gradually blending all carefully. Peel and slice apple thinly.
Place mixture into a cake tin then arrange apples on top.
Cook for about 40 mins or until skewer comes out clean in a 180 degrees oven. Remove from tin while hot butter the top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Notes

Perfect for afternoon teas!

  I would serve this with a dollop of double cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Just tried this recipe out – so easy and delicious. I added the seeds from one vanilla bean to the a batter, just cos I love vanilla. It complemented the flavours perfectly.

  Good idea about the vanilla bean. I’ll have to try that next time.
  Mine’s baking in the oven now, smells lovely. I added cinnamon to the cake batter. Can’t wait til it’s ready.

Oh gosh this seriously looks so moist and yummy.
