A very easy and reliable cake


Ingredients (serves 6)

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 60 grams butter
  • 1 1/2 Self raising flour
  • cinnamon and sugar for top
  • 2 apples

Method

  1. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat well, add flour and milk gradually blending all carefully. Peel and slice apple thinly.
  2. Place mixture into a cake tin then arrange apples on top.
  3. Cook for about 40 mins or until skewer comes out clean in a 180 degrees oven. Remove from tin while hot butter the top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

  • Just tried this recipe out – so easy and delicious. I added the seeds from one vanilla bean to the a batter, just cos I love vanilla. It complemented the flavours perfectly.


    • Good idea about the vanilla bean. I’ll have to try that next time.
      Mine’s baking in the oven now, smells lovely. I added cinnamon to the cake batter. Can’t wait til it’s ready.
