Rich in fiber, minerals, antioxidants and all nine essential amino acids, Quinoa is one of the healthiest and most nutritious foods on the planet. It’s also naturally gluten free! This Apple & Cinnamon Quinoa Porridge is a great way to start your day and to be healthy from the inside out!


Ingredients (makes 2 Serves)

  • 1 cup Milk of your choice (Almond, soy, coconut, cows etc)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Quinoa
  • 2 Apples, grated with skin on
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 TBS Maple syrup
  • 2 TBS Sultanas

Method

  1. Rinse quinoa under cold running water.
  2. Combine with the water in a pot and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat - cover and cook for 10 minutes until soft.
  3. Add milk, apple, cinnamon, seeds and vanilla. Cook for 5 minutes until creamy - add more milk if needed for a creamier texture.
  4. Spoon into serving bowls and enjoy.

  • I remember I was first introduced to Quinoa when travelling in South America back in the 80’s. Now a day’s Quinoa is everywhere to get, but back it wasn’t and very much unheard off. I’ve always been intrigued by it’s Nutritional values

  • I would never in a million years thought to use quinoa for breakfast but after seeing this I am definitely going to give it a go. It looks like the perfect go to for a cold winters morning.

  • I often have oats porridge for breakfast. I’ve only had quinoa once and didn’t like it. I think because I didn’t rinse it, haven’t been game enough to try it again


    • It is a different taste to what most are used to! Not everyone would like this
