Ingredients

  • 250 grams butter
  • 1/2 cup castor sugar
  • 2 and 2/3 cups plain flour

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 150oC
  2. Blend butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour and knead until smooth
  3. Roll out to about 3/4 cm thick and cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. You can reroll leftover dough and cut more cookies.
  4. Place on Glad Bake lined cookie sheet and place in lower section of oven for 35 - 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and allow to cool on tray.

  • I love shortbread. The recipe I usually use has a little rice flour n it too, it gives it that grainy texture. I must try this one to see how it compares :)

  • This recipe is a bit of a classic. We also really like shortbread made with rice flour – simply use the recipe on the rice flour packet – super crisp and easy to work with. Shortbread making is very much a tradition in our house!
