Easy and so much fun. This recipe brightens up anyone’s day and is perfect for birthday parties.


Ingredients (serves 8 | makes 10 cup cakes or one cake )

  • 1 Packet cake mix
  • 2 Eggs
  • 60grams Soft butter or margarine
  • 75 mls Milk
  • Food colouring Red
  • Food colouring Blue
  • Food colouring Yellow
  • Food colouring Green

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180c and make the cake batter as instructed on packet
  2. Divide batter into for large paper cups or small bowls
  3. Add a few drops of food colouring to each cup and mix well
  4. Pour the batter one at a time into cup cake tins and/or greased cake pan don't be to fussed as to where each colour
  5. Place in oven for approx 20 mins

Notes

Great recipe that the kids just love helping with , loads of bright coloured fun

  • Not a bad way of doing it, prob works better than the way I do it of just adding food colouring to the mix and swirling it through with a wooden skewer. Thanks for the tip!

  • I am always impressed by rainbow-style cakes and put it down as too hard. I imagine it must take forever to create the different colours and layers. This is a much easier option.
