Ingredients (serves 50 | makes 50-100 serves )

  • 500g Ginger
  • 2 Medium size lemons
  • 200g Hot green chilli
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Black salt
  • 1 tablespoon Garam masala ( u can buy it from Indian grocery store)
  • 1 teaspoon Black cummin or Nigella seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Carom seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Red chilli flakes

Method

  1. Peel ginger skin and cut them in little pieces with same size cuts of lemon and green chillies.
  2. Now mix all ingredients in the bowl. Place one layer of ginger lemon and chill in the glass jar and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of mixed ingredients.
  3. Make at least 3-4 layers and follow above written steps.
  4. Now place the lid and shake well and keep it in refrigerator. It will be ready in 2-3 days time. Keep shaking in at least twice a day and your pickle is ready to serve with any bread and you can enjoy it with any curry and rice or pancakes.

  • My local Coles sells Garam masala so people could look at their local supermarket instead of writing off the recipie if they dont have an Indian Supermarket close to where they live.
This sounds like a really interesting recipie and I would love to give it a try. I love Indian

  • I will have to try growing chillies. I have had success growing capsicums, so hopefully they are very similar.

  • I just picked the last chillis in my garden and didn’t want them wasted. pickling might be a good idea.

    • Good way to use them and I usually wash them with plain water and let them dry and place them
In ziplock bag and freeze it for later use.
