A deliciously rich chocolate dessert smothered in delectable caramel sauce.
Ingredients (serves 12)
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 4 large Eggs
- 60g dark chocolate, grated
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- CARAMEL SAUCE
- 2 cups Brown sugar
- 2 cups Cream
Method
- Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl until pale and creamy, add the egg yolks one at a time. Add dry ingediants and add the chocolate and yogurt. Beat the egg whites until until white peaks form, using a spatula fold them into the batter
- Spoon the batter into a prepared friand tin and cook at 180 for 40 - 50 minutes, cool cake in pan for 15 minutes before turnung out to cool. Too prepare caramel sauce place brown sugar and cream in saucepan until combined simmer for 10-15 minutes than turn off heat.
- To serve pour hot sauce over cake add dollop of cream and enjoy.
