Introduce your little one to this creamy chia pudding delight a gentle, nutrientpacked pudding perfect for supporting your baby’s growth and development.

Chia seeds are rich in omega3 fatty acids for healthy brain development, high in fibre to support a healthy digestive system and provide essential minerals like calcium and iron for strong bones and overall health. Paired with the natural sweetness of pear and berries, this chia pudding is a wonderful first food and snack option for your baby and can be enjoyed by the whole family

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1⁄2 cup (120ml) coconut milk or milk of choice
  • 1 tbsp (16g) chia seeds
  • 1 packet Bellamy's Organic Freeze-Dried Pear & Apple Snacks, crushed into powder
  • 1/4 cup (40g) fresh or frozen mixed berries, mashed
  • 1⁄2 tsp (2g) cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp (20g) finely mashed banana (optional, for extra sweetness)

Method

  1. In a small bowl or blender, mix coconut milk, chia seeds, crushed freeze-dried pear and apple powder, mashed berries, banana and cinnamon (if using).
  2. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes, then stir again to prevent lumps.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for the best creamy texture.
  4. Serve chilled, topped with extra mashed berries or banana if desired.
  5. For babies aged 9-12 months, serve as a thick puree by mashing it further with a fork or stirring in extra mashed berries or bananas for added texture. For babies practising self-feeding, spoon small dollops onto their tray or serve alongside soft finger foods like steamed apple slices or banana fingers for dipping. Toddlers can enjoy this pudding as a wholesome breakfast, snack, or even dessert, topped with a sprinkle of finely chopped nuts or seeds for added crunch.

STORING LEFTOVERS: Store covered in the fridge for up to 2 days. Freeze any leftovers in popsicle moulds for up to 4 months. Prep Tips: Make a double batch to save time during the week. To crush freeze-dried pears, use a high-speed blender for a fine consistency, or gently crush by piercing the packet and rolling it firmly with a rolling pin.  Easy Ingredient Swaps Swap coconut milk for oat, soy or rice milk. Use fresh pear purée, if freeze-dried pear is unavailable Substitute berries with mango or ripe pear, mashed.

  • Chia puddings are delicious ..even I love it with cacao and coconut. This recipe gives it a great twist for packing in more nutrition for little ones. Would be great to try and incorporate it as part of the breakfast routine. This would be great in summers too when served chill.

  • Chia pudding would be great for little ones on its own.
I tend to eat it at times and love the chocolate flavoured one the best. I find them very filling so tend to only eat half of one of the little tubs and save the rest for the following morning

  • Oh, love the idea of using ‘Bellamy’s Organic Freeze-Dried Pear & Apple Snack’ for this healthy based recipe.

Not to mention, the use of every day ingredients that we all tend to have or can easily swap depending on what we have available.

Love also the fact that the remaining mixture can be frozen for future snacks!

  • I can’t keep up with all the wonderful recipes on here, and so many are healthy too. This looks tasty and tempting and gets us out of the boring breakfast routine. This will have me upping my game. I like dishes like this that I can prepare the night before and have ready to go in the morning.

  • Thanks for sharing this recipe. I never worked much with freeze dried fruits and rather used fresh fruits so I would replace the Bellamy’s Organic Freeze-Dried Pear & Apple Snacks in this recipe crushed in to powder with some home made apple pear mash. Home made apple pear mash with a bit of cinnamon is still loved by my adult children too 😉

  • I keep seeing all these TikTok videos on how good chia seeds are. I have tried them a few times in dishes but I can’t say they wow me. I have made them in a breakfast bowl and when included with lots of other flavours and textures it does go well together.

  • Chia seeds have so many benefits for all of us including our young ones ! They are a great source of fiber, omega 3 fatty acids and they have protein, calcium, iron and anti-oxidants which are all good for developement and growth of our babies. omega 3 fatty acids for baby’s brain development. I would be careful to start them slowly by babies and not before 6 months of age. Also too much fiber can cause constipation so always look at liquid intake as well

  • Personally I don’t love chia, but there’s no doubting it has great nutritional benefits and it’s pretty easy to cook with. I suspect I couldn’t repurpose this recipe for my older kids, but it’s one I would have appreciated when they were younger. It sounds both healthy and easy, good things.

  • Chia pudding has come along way recently and is a delicious alternative for kids and adults. I recently started making this for myself and hope to get my daughter trying this kids version as it’s so wholesome and good for you. I love that this recipe includes cinnamon as this would give it a really nice extra kick.
