This recipe for a quick microwave cheese toastie is my quick ‘pizza’ fix and the kids love being able to help.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1 slice bread
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce or chutney
  • 1 slice cheese (Kraft singles are great)

Method

  1. Toast bread in toaster on a 'light' setting.
  2. Place toast on absorbent paper towel then spread with tomato sauce/chutney.
  3. Top with sliced cheese.
  4. Microwave on high for 30 seconds or until cheese is melted.

Notes

Be very careful when biting into your toastie - especially if giving to children. The melted cheese can get very hot!

  • Now that is good thinking. Love a little pizza, toss on a bit of chicken and some mushroom, and extra delicious.

  • It’s a good idea but I’m guessing that the bread might go a bit soft. I’ll have to do a test to see.
