Ingredients (makes 6 apples)

  • 14 oz Caramels
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 6 Popsicle sticks
  • 2 cups Peanuts, chopped (optional)
  • 6 Over sized cupcake liners
  • 6 Apples, rinsed and refrigerated (I prefer Gala)

Method

  1. Insert Popsicle sticks about halfway into cold apples. Keep in fridge until ready to dip.
  2. Heat caramel and water in crock pot (this keeps the heat uniform and constant) to 80 degrees. Meanwhile, chop nuts and reserve in bowl. Dip apples in caramel and twist by popsicle stick to remove excess. Then roll in chopped peanuts (if using) then place on parchment paper and let cool in the fridge. Once cooled place in cupcake liner.

  • Step one sounds like the hardest part of this recipe! Thank you for this, you always hear about toffee apples or caramel apples, but there aren’t many instructions for how to make them. Much appreciated, the more so as this actually sounds pretty easy and uncomplicated. thank you for the recipe.

  • As a kid some neighbours in the street would always put on a little display for Halloween; bobbing for apples, decorations and caramel apples. It was super cute and you could tell the older couple loved seeing all the kids so happy. This recipe brought back this memories and makes me think that my fam should do something smiler for the kids

  • You could put sultanas in the middle too. When using them as a hot dessert we used to put sultanas and cinnamon in the centre and bake them. I can’t remember the temperature or length of time
