A spectacular experience enjoying local, high-quality products at my nearest Ritchies IGA supermarket. Although this is my third week of shopping there, it certainly won’t be my last. They’ve gained a new customer in me after I compared how much I could save at IGA.
Some of this week’s best promotions included (but were not limited to) snacks and cereals for the kids, cleaning products for the family, and soft drinks. Don’t miss out on the great Christmas specials either.

Heaps of Amazing Deals at Ritchies IGA New Lambton
This is my second week shopping at Ritchies IGA New Lambton, and I was certainly fascinated by the number of incredible discounts available to savvy shoppers. The supermarket is well stocked with a wide range of products, making it convenient for last-minute shopping but also for enjoying a family outing. In addition to the spectacular Extra Specials on cleaning and pantry products, the Black Friday deals were such a bargain that every dollar was well spent. Every day I become more convinced that IGA should be the number one choice for weekly grocery shopping for everyone in this fabulous community.

Week 3 shop and once again impressed at some of the Extra specials found in store. Big savings on things like olive oil, and a good saving on items you use all the time like tinned tomatoes, soft drinks, recipe bases & more. Probably not as many extra specials to shop this week for me personally – a few of the extra specials were on things we don’t eat as a family (eg tuna tins) but for anyone who does there’s great prices to be found. We picked up a few extra little treats this week for an upcoming weekend away which I’ve never spotted anywhere else! A wide variety of items & again impressed by the value and friendly service at Ritchies IGA in Maclean.

Week 3 shop at Supa Valu Girrawheen complete! This was probably the best week yet. I was extremely impressed with the specials this week. My favourites were; $0.49 zucchini, Weet-bix $2.19 for 575g box, bag of Doritos for $2.19, chicken breast $7.99 per kg, and the paper towel 2 pack $1.89. Safe to say I stocked up on the Weetbix- what a bargain! Store was tidy and well organised. Plenty of available parking. No wait time at the checkout. Very happy with what I got for $60. I feel very fortunate to have been part of this mission and given this opportunity. My local IGA is quite expensive, but the SUPA VALU prices and specials are extremely competitive! Thanks for helping me discover a great place to shop! Great value for money!

It’s finally my last week at Supa Valu Romeos Doonside. I bought a few Extra Specials this week. Starting with Quilton 3ply toilet tissue 36 rolls value pack. What a steal for only $18!
Then there were some better than half price deals — Magnum mini ice cream 6 pack for $5.50. I saved $6.50 on this. Doritos for $2.20 each, saving $2.80 each. How good is that?! I also bought rump steak. A good deal as well. To finish off, I stocked up on essentials like lemon juice, noodles, canned tuna and sardines and corn kernels.
Doing my grocery shopping at IGA these past 3 weeks really made me realise that I’ve been missing on some great savings. Now I know to also check on the IGA catalogue weekly. Thank you for this opportunity.

Week 3 of IGA 60$ shopping - blessing and cheap prices
Week 3 of shopping gave us some more new stuff. I was sincerely impressed that I got it all for less than 60$. I got new ice cream to try and our favourite Doritos and Cheddar Shapes that we actually tried first after buying in IGA for half price! Even though not all items on specials, I bought heaps for such a small price!

I am so grateful to have a chance to be a reviewer for this project. It is so awesome to have an extra 60$ for shopping for 3 weeks. Myself and my husband are always looking forward to another Wednesday to get this gift card and get some stuff for our family.
Week 2 shopping in IGA Elermore Vale is another great experience. We bought some useful items for home and food wise. I don’t know why, but I didn’t see anywhere the tag “extra special” discount, only “special”, unless i have a pregnancy brain and don’t see stuff. Great value for money, but still can’t say that it would be cheaper than in other supermarkets. Great range of products by types. The cashier apparently was one of fairly new staff members as he couldn’t place the gift card properly in the system. Overall, amazing experience! Thanks!

I was really impressed with the items I purchased today, everything I bought was an extra special. It was easy to spot the extra specials instore with the tickets in the aisles, the end displays and the extra special signboard at the entrance. The items I purchased are all brands that I would usually buy so I was happy that they were on special this week. The best value items were the Cobram extra virgin olive oil, the Doritos and the Magnum icecream, all more than 50% off. The customer service was good, allowing me to go through the express lane even though I had a few too many items. I think I could do a full grocery shop here if I shopped smart and looked at the speicals.

My IGA at Mt Waverley had a few Extra Specials, but not as many as I’d noticed on previous occasions. Some good buys were to be had, so that’s a bonus!

Apologies this is submitted late. I got lost of the days with a new born. Last shop at singleton IGA. Very limited extra special buys but lots of specials. If you shop correctly you can really get a lot for your money. Staff were friendly as always but did not know how to put in the voucher so I was stuck at the register holding everyone up.

For week 3 of the IGA extra specials at Rowville Ritchies IGA I feel like there were a few repeats, nevertheless another great week. The two stand out items were definitely the omo laundry detergent and the Cobram olive oil. The omo was $16 with a savings of $20! And the Cobram olive oil was $12 with a savings of $13! I saved a total of $58.50 on my total bill with all of the other items. The only thing that was a big weird was these two items didn’t actually display the extra specials price stickers on the shelves. I had seen them in the extra specials catalogue so I actually had to confirm with staff that they were at the extra special price, which they were. Apart from that bungle I’m happy to say that I will definitely be shopping at IGA for all the specials from now on! Great value for some of their specials and such friendly staff.

I’ve really enjoyed my shops at IGA. Some fantastic buys this week with items better than half price – laundry detergent, olive oil and corn chips.
Also great fresh produce – onions, carrots and raspberries.
Everything is easy to find and pleasant staff.
I will be going back for sure!

Hi all, headed into my local IGA store at Sutherland. Very impressed with the store as far as the quantity of extra specials available and well stocked and clean. However, the staff stock trolleys were in the middle of a few aisles making it difficult to move past with a trolley. The cashier sales assistant was not very friendly today which was unusual in comparison to the previous two shopping reviews.

I can’t talk highly enough of my experience shopping at IGA Pentridge, every week has felt like a self care experience with fantastic treats, and those little extras that you can’t find in Coles.
This week I picked up quite a few of the extra special treats, with mini magnum’s at $5.50 a box, and Doritos at $2.20. my kids were very happy!
And for the mountains of laundry I do every day, the Omo tabs were fantastic value at $16 a 28 bag. I don’t usually use the laundry capsules, but after picking some up in the extra specials last week, I have loved how easy and convenient they are.
I also want to acknowledge the amazing team at IGA Pentridge. My 2 year old twins joined my shopping trip on Saturday, and the team were so helpful throughout the store, and even let the twins help “pack the shopping bags” a highlight of their day.

I went along to my nominated store, Ritchies IGA in Mt Waverley, and scanned the shelves but I was disappointed this week. One product I had my eye on – FPFC High Protein Sweet Chilli Breast Tenders – was over $12, which was only a 90 cent saving – I don’t think this qualifies as a Super Special but that’s what it apparently was.

This week’s saw some extra specials extra value sales and Supa Valu Doonside. The magnums were more than 50% off they were down $6.50 and only cost $5.50 per box. The Doritos are out absolute favourite for nacho nights and these were also down more than half price. Down $2.80 and cost me $2.20 per bag.
Again we tried some black and gold the pasta is actually really yum and what a cheap meal only $0.95 a bag.
It was a shame the calippos were out of stock that’s another fav of ours

These are the specials I bought for $60.00 from Ritchie’s IGA Taree. I was surprised that Cobran’s olive oil $12.00 and the omo ultra S16.00 was an extra special marked with yellow tags were so cheap. The mangoes were 3 for $6.00 and the Kent pumpkin only $2.00 kg

I was again about to find everything I needed for my weekly shop. It has a very good range of items-especially Christmas items. The staff were excellent – friendly and super helpful. It was again confusing to determine the extra specials as they seemed to have Christmas special tags instead of extra special tags. I spent $62.69 and saved $17.11 which I am super happy with!

Genius Beach And Pool Tips Every Aussie Mum Should Know
Summer beach and pool days are core childhood memory creators, but getting the kids out the door, not so much! From wrestling wriggly toddlers into rashies to arguing with teens trying to dodge sunscreen and cramming half the house into the car, the exhaustion can kick in before we’ve even set foot on the sand!
But there are some very clever tips that will make even the most stressful summer days smooth sailing – and the Mouths of Mums community know them all! Which is why we asked our mums for their hints, hacks and tips – from sand removal to stress-free sunscreen application (we’re going to introduce you to the fabulous new Banana Boat SmartMist Sunscreen Sprays that will make your life so much easier).
You’ll want to take note before you next hit the beach or pool!
Pack Smart, Not Big
Do you feel like you take waaayyy too much when you head to the beach or pool, and then you seem to forget a couple of key things that would have made life so much easier?
Our Mouths of Mums community swear by this fab list of essentials which should be in every mum’s beach kit, and
A plastic bag for wet towels and bathers
A dry bag for clothes
A bucket or basin to wash off sandy toys
A ‘clean zone’, sand-free blanket or mat for eating and changing
A pop-up tent for changing
Waterproof phone case
Talcum powder to get sticky, wet sand off little feet. Just pop it on and brush it off – it’s magic!
A hand-held car vac for quick sand cleanups!
“The amount of times my kids have gone home in wet chafing swimming costumes because they didn’t want anyone to see them changing is unbelievable! Our pop up tent has been life changing! We all drive home comfy and cosy! Lastly, a sand proof picnic blanket is so perfect for a sand reprieve! The sand literally falls right through them!” – MoM Member
Get Safety Sorted Before The Fun Starts
It’s pretty hard to get the kids’ attention once you’re at the beach or pool, so the safety talk should really start at home. Our mums recommend chatting to the kids about:
Swimming between the flags at the beach
Setting a meeting spot in case anyone gets separated
Sunscreen: Always apply sunscreen 20 minutes before heading outdoors. And set alarms to reapply every two hours throughout the day. Reapply immediately after swimming or using a towel.
Applying sunscreen at the start of the day and regularly throughout is so important, but it usually causes the most arguments. Kids don’t want to stop, teens assure you they ‘did it already’.
That’s where Banana Boat’s new SmartMist™ Sunscreen Spray SPF50+ actually makes a difference. The iconic sunscreen brand has just launched its newest product, which turns sunscreen time into something simple and fun. It’s an easy and convenient way to tick off sun safety – which isn’t always easy when it comes to kids!
Why Banana Boat SmartMist Sunscreen Spray makes sunscreen easier
The Smart Control Spray gives you the choice of a short spray for tricky spots or a long spray for larger areas like those wiggly little legs, making application simple and convenient. It also sprays from any angle – just spray, rub in and you’re ready for playtime.
Clear, lightweight formula that absorbs fast and with no greasy feel.
SPF50+ broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection and 4-hour water resistant.
Kids SmartMist™ is mild and gentle for kid’s sensitive skin, fragrance free and contains Aloe and Vitamin E.
Sport SmartMist™ features high-performance Powerstay Technology™, designed to stay on through sweat and water.
Banana Boat SmartMist makes those important sunscreen stops much easier and effective and is perfect for active Aussie families this summer.
Prep & Time It Perfectly
There’s nothing worse than kids itching to get to the beach while you’re trying to remember everything you need to pack – it makes everyone frazzled. So get prepped early – even the night before. And time your departure to minimise the amount of time in the car (and the amount of times the kids ask ‘are we there yet?!’.
“Packing the car the night before, always a huge help getting the bucket, cabana, and bag of spare clothes/towels in the boot. We usually leave straight after breakfast to avoid heavy traffic as the beach is an hour away.” – MoM Member
Pack Smart Snacks
Snacks are a must, but it can be tricky to know what’s going to survive a hot, Aussie summer day – and what’s good for hungry tummies. Here’s what our mums recommend:
Chopped fruit
Crackers
Boiled eggs
Drink bottles that have been frozen overnight
“We have a few allergies/intolerances, so being prepared with food is helpful and saves us the search and some money. I pre-chop carrots, cucumber, apples, boiled egg, in a handy separating container, a packet of chips, dip, and bring water bottles. If it’s a longer day planned at the beach I’ll bring lunch too.” – MoM Member
A chaos-free beach day. Yes please!
You don’t need a military-style plan to enjoy a sunny day out. A beach trolley, some prep, and an easy sunscreen like SmartMist™ are enough to help things run calmly – or at least calm-ish!
Always read the label and follow the directions for use. Wear protective clothing, a hat and sunglasses in addition to sunscreen. Reapply frequently every 2 hours or more often when sweating and immediately after swimming or using a towel. Avoid prolonged high-risk sun exposure.
Mouths of Mums is proudly working with Banana Boat to bring you this article.
LVR love this idea! BANANA BOAT SMARTMIST!
I love how it can use for a WIDE SPRAY or a SHORT SPRAY!
How handy and Quick! These innovative ideas are what Families need!
Love Love Love this & Easily Accessible from lots of places to purchase it from!
Thanks Banana Boat and Mouths of Mums for putting it out there
Planning for a trip to the beach can be a lot of effort and quite a drive for me as i am at least 30 minutes away from the local beach. I find I have to pack a lot of things but this article was a fantastic read as i never thought that Talcum powder could help remove sand. I am going to try this, i love the idea. I also like the idea of packing bento boxes for each person rather than taking lots of different containers with food in it.
Along with strategic planning for a trip to the beach it is also very important to plan the time of day for a trip to the beach. We always check the UV index and we also make a trip to the beach when it is cooler and avoid the hottest part of the day.
A great article with loads of useful tips! I find that to enjoy one day at the beach needs a week of preparation. It’s a real chore to make sure you’ve got everything… and then you need 2 dozen hands to carry everything. We actually bought a beach trolley on wheels which helps to transport all our stuff from the car to the beach. So much easier!
I agree with the less is more approach when going to the beach. We plan and get organised early and pack and then stand back and take a good look and then repack. It is surprising what is actually needed and used at the beach. An approach that is organised is the key to a great time at the beach.
So happy to share the magic of baby powder after a messy day at the beach or park! It’s been a game changer for us.
Not quite as elaborate as the pop up tent, but a large towel with a hood has been great to discretely change out of bathers! It’s my husband’s go to now haha
My biggest tip is to be very clear who’s watching the kids, especially when they’re in the water. Like, actually verbally hand over and make sure it’s acknowledged if you’re going somewhere (like to the bathroom). That can definitely save lives, but also save panics about lost kids in crowded spaces.
Some really good tips here! I had no idea about the talcum powder hack – who would have known! That is amazing and I will definitely try it next time we go to the beach! It is definitely worthwhile getting things ready the night before though, especially if you want to leave before midnight lol.
