Hello!

Most of us like to think we’re the ‘cool mum’ who would never embarrass our kids, but sometimes cringey moments happen. But thank your lucky stars you’ll probably never do anything as monumentally awkward as this mum.

Katie Hannaford decided to join in the fun at her daughter’s school sports event by taking part in a parents’ race, but what unfolded was a mortifying tumble.

Take a look at the hilarious incident here:

Despite flashing her bum cheeks to the entire school, Katie saw the funny side and decided to share the video on Facebook, adding the caption, “When the kids got more at sports day than they were expecting! Haha. If you can’t laugh at yourself then what’s life about ay! Sorry kiddo’s and anyone else watching!”

Of course, the video has now gone viral, with thousands of people seeing Katie’s most embarrassing tumble. And the funny thing is, the 36-year-old mum didn’t even want to take part in the event, but her eight-year-old daughter insisted.

“I’m not sporty at all, but (my daughter) kept begging me,” she told LADBible. “In the end I agreed to the race – I knew I’d come last.”

And indeed she did. But not before exposing herself to the students and staff.

“I just tripped over my own feet – I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I’m so clumsy, I’m always falling over. I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is! I flashed my underwear which is obviously embarrassing but you just have to own it.

“Looking back, it’s hilarious – definitely the funniest thing I’ve ever done in my life!”

  • While I would be absolutely horrified and hoping the ground would open up and eat me, I love that she’s been able to laugh at herself and has the courage to post it online. I could never do that but I say good on her and she’s right, you should be able to laugh at yourself and see the lighter side of things.

  • I am sure in future this mum won’t be wearing underwear like that at a school sports day again just in case she is ‘begged’ to go into another race by her child. It can be very hard to say ‘NO’.

  • Definitely embarrassing but good on her for been such a good sport.

  • Oh my goodness how embarrassing! It’s great she got involved but seriously why share this video and photo the embarrassment is enough. My kids are still too young to embarrass lol.
