Hello!

I have just made it out of the black hole of not eating! My son got a virus about a month ago and developed mouth ulcers which caused him to stopped eating. At first I tried everything to get him to eat something, ANYTHING! Nothing worked so for that week he literally ate nothing. The next week he was a bit better and his ulcers started to clear up so I managed to get him to drink smoothies. I put in fruit and Icecream to give him some calories. The next week (week 3) he was better but still refused to eat any veggies or meat. I was beginning to thinking he was going to live on sandwiches forever. Just when I was at my lowest he ate some chicken and veggies. I wanted to jump and down but I kept my poker face on and acted like it was no big deal. He has finally started to eat again. So for all the other mums out there going through the same thing keep strong and keep trying.

  • Although it can be difficult I have found that those stages don’t last very long. My son’s both it is once or twice (and to be honest I do the same when unwell). I found soup and milkshakes were good as they were easy to swallow

  • My brother was scalded by a boiling jug when he was 18mths old & after weeks of hospital treatment he would only drink Ribena & eat potato chips. My Mum was able to put vitamin supplements in his drink but it took a few years for him to try different foods. The Doctor checked him regularly & said he was healthy regardless of his diet. PS. He is now a grown man & is very health conscious & eats heaps of fruit & veggies!

  • I think kids sometimes get into bad habits for a little while.
