Hello!

A friend of mine, her mum and myself were sitting at her place one day. I had not yet had my bub, but she had a little boy, aged about 2 at the time.

We were going through several boxes of books and things that had belonged to her Grandma, who had passed away a few weeks earlier.

Right down the bottom of the box was a photo of a young man in Army uniform. Neither my friend or her Mum knew who the young man was.

As they were discussing who it might be, her son picked up the photo. He straight away clutched his chest, saying “ow ow ow”

His Mum took back the photo, so she could check him over to see what was wrong. As soon as she did, he stopped saying ow, and went back to playing.

Twice more he picked up the photo, clutched his chest saying ow, only to stop when the photo was taken from him.

Skip forward a few weeks, and her great Aunt had come over to visit.

My friend had put the photo up on a shelf, and had kind of forgotten it.

Her Great Aunt picked up the photo, and my friend asked if she knew who it was.

The Aunt nodded.

Turned out her Grandma and the Aunt had had a brother who had gone to war, and never come home.

They had never really spoken about him – even my friends Mum didn’t know he had existed.

My friend told her about the little boy’s strange reaction to the photo, at which point the Aunt explained he had died on the battlefield from a gunshot wound to the chest…

Spookiest of all – her son and the newly discovered great uncle? Both called Sam….
