Fire Season is just around the corner and we have been preparing our home by clearing debris, tidying the house & garden and updating our emergency plan. Do others get their homes ready for the fire season?

  • i do’t live near risk areas but it is good to give the yard a good clear up.

  • Not really. Our place is pretty well maintained all year round. We probably need to clean our gutters and dispose of some garden waste and were pretty set

  • My child n year 3 had fire department incursion at school this week. For the first time ever we have a fire emergency plan. I was amazed how much they taught the children. It’s always good to be prepared.

    • Excursions and education are so important and fun for kids too.

  • Well done! Our house if fairly new and close to town so we don’t need to do a huge amount in preparation. We live in the Blue Mountains though so we keep a bag packed with our emergency items in case we need to evacuate. Our bush fire plan is to get out early because we’ve got little ones to think of. My neighbours keep an eye on the place though, which is great.

    • Your plan sounds brilliant and being near the Blue Mountains you do need to be prepared. We have our boxes ready and labelled and always ready to go. Like you, we are – get out early.

  • Yes – mostly things like clearing gutters.

    • Spot on! Gutters are so important and a huge fire risk too.
