Hello!

Having a coffee with friends this morning & our casual conversion turned towards home renovations especially with the labour costs involved in them. My friend was complaining about the quote she got for a bathroom tiling job. She was astounded that the actual cost of material for a tiling job was minimal compared to the labour cost in laying the tiles. This is when I could proudly say how handy my husband is & how much money he has saved us in labour costs. We have save thousands of dollars in labour. My husband is a crash repairer by trade so he’s comfortable in using tools & measuring things up. He’s installed our kitchen, laundry, replastered, retiled, painted, & sanded our floor boards. You name it-he’s done it. Last week he was climbing our trees & lopping them. While my other friends husbands struggle to unpackaged an IKEA flat pack, my hubby’s already put it together with one hand tied behind his back & blindfolded. Obviously anything related to cars he’s also very good at. Not bad for a guy who is semi illiterate & left school in yr 10. So proud of him.

  • My son is exactly the same. He can fix it, no matter what it is. He can replace it, no matter what it is. Renovate and rejuvenate, he’s all over it. He was always a hands on kid, pulling things apart to find out how they work, now getting actually knows how to put them together again lol

  • I’m sure your friends hubby has different skills.

  • I find people are all skilled in different ways, my son saves us heaps of money when it comes to technology, my brother-in-law saves us heaps when it comes to our cars, hubby does all the accountancy work and he is handy with some repairs but some things do need a professional tradie I feel. Every one has their own skills and are unique in their own way. :-)

  • My husband is the same, he loves starting jobs and when he’s finished them he’s so proud of what he’s done.
There isn’t much that he won’t have a try at.

  • My partner is about as much use as a chocolate tea-pot when it comes to anything “handy”, and he’s so accident-prone it’s not funny. I’d give my eye-teeth to have a man around who could do things like your hubby. It would save us a fortune in what we’ve had to pay tradesmen to do.

  • I love the fact my husband is also very handy! I see it comes naturally to him and he is very good with technology as well. He will find an app, a video, a tutorial, or other instructions and info with ease and it will help him get the job done more accurately. We are both young and inexperienced so I reckon with more experience and a larger variety of tools and materials he will be able to do A LOT! :)

  • That’s wonderful – my husband can also do a lot of things, but it doesn’t come so naturally – so every so often we decide it would be quicker and easier to pay someone else who already knows what they’re doing.
