For a while I’ve been cutting back the amount of sugar used in baking recipes, paying more attention to the sugar in sauces and spreads (and eliminating the high content or substituting with products that have less). After a few months I can only say I am ABSOLUTELY amazed at how SWEET things taste.. now that I’m using LESS sugar! I am finding more sweetness in my foods than I ever appreciate before: .. fruit (apples and citrus, berries and kiwi are especially sweet), milk, roasted vegetables, muffins and scones with “just” dried fruit, even chickpeas all taste so beautifully sweet. I’m getting sweetness (and flavours) that weren’t possible before! While it has taken a while for my tastebuds to adjust I’m convinced that less is more, at least when it comes to sugar!

  • I have reasonable amounts of sugar and don’t worry about it much – a pretty balanced diet.

  • I don’t mess with baking recipes (cakes, bikkies, etc) but I ditch sugar everywhere else.
