Hello!

Nearly 4 years ago now my mother passed away and I chose to sell her little unit she owned in Bendigo because It reminded me too much of her to live there myself. We decided to head to the country the town next door to my husbands parents so we could be close to them and his sister and her kids. We brought a beautiful house but straight away I hated the fact that the nearest shopping centre was an hour away and my husband’s family had little to do with us. We are miles from anything except the few shops we have in town. So we are going to resell and try and head to a bigger town, so are putting the house on the market again and will be looking for a new one. More moving again

  • My husband is a small town guy and I moved to his small town because that’s what he wanted. 8 years later, I still haven’t got used to the fact that the nearest major shops are 4 hours away. It drives me crazy.

  • I love livin in the country. It’s only 5 mins to the local grocery store so I’m not as dad out as you. I love the fresh air, peace and quiet and the people

  • I hear you. We did the same thing, there are things I miss and some I don’t, it’s all a trade off though.

  • It’s so disappointing when things don’t turn out after you move somewhere special, but you have been able to see the pros and cons of country towns for yourself and found another place that suits you better. I hope it is everything you wanted and that you soon settle in and make new friends.

  • small towns can be the hardest to break into, they seem to have kept that “blocky” mentality, and dont really ever let strangers in

  • I grew up on a farm in a small country town and as a kid I loved it. I live in a larger town, in town now and dream to heva my own property someday out of down. Then I think about the inconvenience of living out of town or in a small town. Its is a hard decision. Good luck!

  • I am sorry it didn’t work out for you, but hopefully now you are well on your way to relocating. We live in a country town and I don’t mind the 30 minute drive to the supermarket, no traffic lights! Peace and quiet.
