So about me:
I’m (can you guess?) a whopping 24 years of age. I had my first (and last!) child last year, Miss Kloe Miah Rootes with my partner of well WOW nearly 10 years…. Nic.
We brought our first house at 17 – and still have the debt for it – a whole $225000.00 Misery! We rushed into buying our property at don that we have rented out for the last 4-5 years, as being 108 years old requires so much repair or things we want to change that we needed a break from getting home from work to go to work!!
I’m Aboriginal, and proud of it. Not over the top, just proud. I come from a strong Aboriginal Family. I have always actually worked either in Aboriginal Health or for Aboriginal organisations. I went to full time work at 16 – at Tiagarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Museum, and studied college via distance education. I have horses, I can’t afford not to work!
in 2006 we started Riverview House, and it has been fully operational ever since. Its hard work. Its sad work and its very emotional work. Not only do we breed horses, we break, train, sell, educate, rehabilitate etc. And yes sometimes it means we are the last port of call and that means putting some to sleep. But while there are sad stories, there are also brilliant days, watching a magnificent animal come back into work or rehabilitated from the race track. IN fact we have helped over 200 horses. This comes at a cost – one we privately cover from our own working pay checks. Each year we spend over $10000 on other people’s horses, be they mistakes or mismanaged.
