I work with special needs children in mainstream school I have done this for about 10 years with all different types of special needs some alot worse than others from cerebral palsy to selective mutism each one of them have been a challenge in some way or other like testing a mute child on there reading ability getting a autistic child to concentrate on one particular topic without getting frustrated teaching a blind child not to be afraid of a swing (heights) teaching a child that it is ok to take his shoes off and get his feet dirty.

I think I have made a difference to these children I look back at the end of the year and remember what they were like at the start of the year then I know i have made a difference Their parent are very special people to be able to cope with them full time.

  • You sound like you’ve certainly found your niche in life, and how wonderful to have a job that you enjoy and look forward to every day. The difference that you’ve made in the lives of the children is so important, and you do it with love and compassion. I don’t for a moment think that it would be an easy job, but so rewarding for you nonetheless. Congratulations on doing such a special and important job. I’m sure that the children and their parents appreciate your efforts enormously.
