I’m sure my children believe that when they go to sleep and when they go to school, a cleaning fairy magically appears and tidies their room, picks up their clothes that have been tossed not in the hamper but beside it and straightens up their idea of a made bed!
Yes we do, that cleaning fairy is ME.
Despite instilling in my four little cherubs to pack things away after they have used them ( just like they do at school), make their bed before they go to school and put their bowls on the sink, it never seems to be done.
A regular occurrence that is slowly driving me insane!
And yet while having a shower this morning, seemingly by myself, as a multitude of children flow in and out of the bathroom to “brush their hair/ teeth” or “wash their hands” I smile and remember the days when my husband and I thought we could never have children and me sobbing “all I want to be is a mum!”. Luckily we have been blessed with three daughters and a whirlwind of a son and I could not be more happy than I am.
Sometimes being a mum can really get me down, you are constantly wanted, expected to do a multidude of tasks at once(I can multi-task but this is just ridiculous) and do it all without breaking a sweat. It is at those times when I am at the end of my tether, that I need to remind myself of how truly lucky I am.
I may be the cleaning fairy after all, as I got my wish!
