does anyone else have similar childhood experiences? I was the typical “outside, don’t want you inside til dinner time.’ And I loved it. I went to the pool, played tennis, visited the (out of bounds :0) clay pits, visited friends, went to the park, loved the library. There was no shortage of things to do outside. I had a great childhood and feel a bit saddened that a lot of children today don’t have the same experiences

  • yeah because either there are more weirdo’s around or we talk about these things now! back then, would have been a lot of fear in a community to have something happen.

  • Yep, my kids enjoyed the freedom of growing up,outside. Cubby houses, mud puddles, tree climbing. They did all that. But not with the same freedom I remember having

  • Yes, it sadness me too see kids using phones and tablets etc instead of getting outside .

  • That was basically how we kids were brought up in the 1950’s & I allowed my boys the same freedom but I always needed to know where they were if they changed plans.

  • My daughter is not quite 3. Loves being outside. We play in the mud and do all sorts of silly things

    • Exactly – love this sort of fun play.

  • Every generation tends to feel this way – but kids still get out and it is up to parents to make sure kids have these experiences. it is about a balance of indoor and outdoor activities.
