Telstra is investigating issues impacting its mobile network just weeks after the telco had nationwide issues with the service.
It is not known how much of the network has been impacted, but 3G and 4G and data disruptions have been reported across the country.
In a statement, a Telstra spokesman confirmed the investigation and said “we apologise to our customers for the inconvenience”.
We are aware of an issue impacting some mobile services. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
Telstra spokesman Michael Zappone said the network was working to resolve an issue impacting some 4G mobile voice and data services nationally.
“It is also causing congestion for 3G services,” he said.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We are still investigating the root cause.”
He said calls to Triple Zero would connect over other carriers’ networks where they have mobile coverage.
However, NSW Police warned the outages may be impacting people trying to call emergency services.
“Until the issue is resolved, those affected should use a phone with another carrier or a landline if needing to call these numbers,” police said.
This is the second time this month Telstra has come under fire after its network failed to handle damage to a critical “fibre link” that caused some Triple Zero calls to drop out across five states. Read more here.
