Is there anything better than putting the kids to bed, pouring a glass of wine and sitting down to binge on your favourite Netflix show? Iso certainly has had me powering through the content list and whilst I am ALWAYS seeking new recommendations (please, please, please tell me what you’re watching in the comments!), here are 10 shows I’ve been totally hooked on during quarantine and would potentially watch again!

The 10 BEST Shows On Netflix – June 2020

1. The Last Dance

Ok, so this isn’t one I thought I would find myself watching, but you know, quarantine… anyway, I was surprisingly into this. Growing up in basketballs halo era the biggest name in sport was certainly Michael Jordan, my brother idolised him, everyone at school would talk about his slam dunks and if you didn’t have the shoes you WERE NOT cool, so I thought I would give it a go – glad I did. Try it for yourself, you might be surprised!

2. Schitts Creek

This is hands down one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Every single character is cast perfectly, though if asked, I would have to say my favourite is ‘David’ for his absolutely over the top sarcastic view of life. You have to watch from Season 1 right through to get the full story but it is SO worth it.

3. The Politician

WOAH, this is one crazy storyline. With a brilliant cast… Gwenyth, Bette Midler and a whole host of kids I have never seen before play their roles perfectly. The start of season two gets a bit weird, but stick with it, it’s all for good reason!

4. Dead To Me

I’ve loved watching Christina Applegate on TV since Married With Children, it’s like her acting just gets better and better and this is one show that does not disappoint. I was totally gripped from the first episode of season one. If you havent seen this one already, GET TO IT!

5. The Good Place

Netflix seem to have managed to get the best actors from everywhere and cast them perfectly, serious money there! Anyway, it’s good for our eyeballs. This is a comedy show that will completely take you off guard, it’s such a crazy, outrageous fantasy concept that it works. Great for a lighthearted, fun show to wind down with.

6. After Life

Get ready to ride a rollercoaster of emotion, you’ll be laughing one second and totally bawling your eyes out the next. Ricky Gervais just has a way with comedy and sometimes it can be abrupt but in this one, he shows he is completely sweet and thoughtful as he has written, produced and directed After Life and it’s worth your time!

7. 13 Reasons Why

13 Reasons Why is one of those shows that makes you think, it shows so many different perspectives and is one I think I will watch with my daughter when she hits the teen years.

8. Ozark

Does this stuff actually happen? Wait, don’t tell me – I like to live in a bubble. Jason Bateman is really surprised me in this one, I am used to seeing him in a light hearted role, but he nails this one!

9. Floor is Lava

Ok, the kids and I are officially obsessed with this show. The title says it all, it’s funny (watch out for a few quips that will hopefully go over the kids heads….), my kids play this game in real life on the daily and it promotes physical activity. 5 stars.

10. Workin’ Moms

Another one where the title explains it all. Good for a belly laugh, pairs well with a wine!

Ones on my hit list coming up:

The Sinner

White Lines

Hollywood

  • I know this is an older article, but ohhhh I love workin mom’s. Such a funny, addictive show. The finale wasn’t everything I wanted, but it’s hard to end anything wonderful perfectly.

  • I like most of these, but I turned off The Floor is Lava about 2 minutes in because all the shouting and repetition drove me crazy. It’s a good idea for a show but they somehow managed to make it boring.

  • The Sinner season 2 was so much better than Season 1. I stuck it out for the latter but the former was much better because Jessica Biel wasn’t in it.
