Whoa Baby! Woman Gives Birth In Uber

We’ve all heard it – baby will come when baby is ready – even if that’s in the back seat of an Uber speeding towards the hospital.

Although Amona Kadiku lives just 20 minutes from her nearest hospital, her little one couldn’t wait until they arrived.

The 36-year-old had planned to a water birth at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, but her second child was in too much of a hurry. Baby Adam decided to arrive as Amona and her partner Kojo headed to the hospital in an Uber.

“We started the ride and it just progressed so quickly,” Amona told the Evening Standard. “I was nervous, and I was still in a lot of pain, but I wasn’t scared, I was just thinking ‘Okay, this might happen here. It’s crazy.’”

The Uber driver and Kojo calmed the shocked mum, reassuring her they were only four minutes from the hospital. Once they arrived, medical staff jumped to action, while onlookers were overjoyed.

“Some people on the street were clapping and shouting congratulations,” Amona explained.

But if you think that was the only surprise of the day – you’d be mistaken! While Amona was recovering in her hospital bed, Kojo dropped to one knee and proposed.

“We both cried, and I didn’t even really properly listen to what he was saying, because everything was so overwhelming but of course I said yes.”

The happy couple has also managed to thank their Uber driver.

Feel sorry for the Uber driver and the cleanup – at least I had 6 towels with me when it happened on our way to the hospital. Quite scary, but all’s well that ends well, for both of us. Thanks for sharing and bringing back memories.
