We’ve never seen an Airbnb quite like this before – would you spend a night in the treetops?

It has become one of the most popular travel destinations for Australians looking to escape the mid-year drop in temperature and seek some much-needed sun, but not everyone who goes to Bali gets to stay in accommodation like this. The ‘Rumah Pohon’ treehouses, located just south of Bali, are going viral on social media not only for their incredible views but also because they are incredibly affordable!

All About Timing

Business Insider reports that the trio of treehouses offer a slightly different experience depending on which one you stay in. Each one has a unique view of the ocean and forest surrounds. Guests are unable to select which treehouse they wish to book, however, so there will always be an element of surprise when you arrive! Each treehouse is equipped with basic (emphasis on basic) necessities for two people including a bed, fan and small bedside table. Just be prepared to share a bathroom, with toilet and shower facilities located downstairs. A night in one of the treehouses is priced at just under $60, which we think is incredible value for this one of a kind experience –  especially when you consider the endless Instagram pics you’ll be able to take!

High Praise

Reviews of the treehouses have said that despite the basic interior, they are well worth checking out. “It’s a once in a lifetime experience,” wrote one guest. “What an amazing place to stay!” said another. While they aren’t the most family friendly, and the interiors aren’t exactly impressive, what better place to live out your childhood treehouse dreams? We’re adding this one to our travel bucket list!

Would you stay a night in one of these treehouses? Let us know in the comments.

  • This looks gorgeous. I’d be a little concerned about the stability of it though.

  • So incredibly beautiful! Wouldn’t recommended for a honeymoon, not sure if it would be structurally sound enough to withstand newly wed antics lol!!!

  • Um, probably not. I’m not too good with heights. And if the wind started blowing, I wouldn’t cope if the treehouse started swaying.
