An American couple has been trolled for the names they’ve chosen for their triplet boys – in particular one that’s a nod to an Australian capital city.

Influencers Rachel and Jordan Flom shared a video revealing the triplet’s names, and it attracted thousands of comments from followers.

The pair, from Nashville Tennessee, already have a two-year-old daughter, Emerson, and found out they are expecting triplet boys early next year. In the video clip, the pair revealed each of the boys’ names, and explained the meaning behind them. The names they’ve chosen are Locklan James, Wilder Scott and Brisbane Leigh.

“We have named the triplets, three boys in case you didn’t know,” Joran explained. “Locklan means from the lands of lakes. I’m from Minnesota.

“Baby B’s name is Wilder Scott. Wilder we just really loved, but then we found out that his family grew up in Wilder, Minnesota.

“The name of Baby C is Brisbane Leigh. We might say Bris for short. Leigh is my middle name, and I lived in Brisbane, Australia for six months. It just meant a lot to me and I jokingly said the name Brisbane once. I don’t think it is a name, but we’re making it one.

“The meaning of Brisbane … we looked it up after we locked in the name, and the meaning of Brisbane is ‘breaking of bones’. Which means he might be a sports player.”

The name reveal attracted hundreds of comments, including:

“Americans name their kids such weird names.”

“WTF these poor kids.”

“They will never find pens with their names on them haha.”

“Some people just shouldn’t name children. These are human beings who will have to spend their entire lives with these names, they aren’t pets who will never care or understand the origin of a name they respond to for treats.”

  • Maybe it’s just me but I like the names and especially the meanings behind them. There are a lot of kids names out there and I mean way out there. Congratulations to them on the upcoming birth of your boys.

  • If they like it that’s okay. Doesn’t bother me. But congratulations to triplets. I got twins. Can’t imagine having triplets.

  • There are much worse names out there! Brisbane would have been named after someone anyway. No different to calling your daughter Sydney or Adelaide or Paris or Memphis….

  • Well he could have named the child Cellblock or Hospital or Dunny maybe Outback or what ever name he could find to make the child’s life hard

    Reply

  • People call their kids Sydney and Victoria so I dont really see the difference.

  • Different list of name combos here. They’re not too outrageous and have meaning to the parents, so who cares. It’s so sad some people always have to be on the attack

    Reply

  • I’ve seen much worse names than that! They’ve chosen names that have significance to them for goodness sake!

  • Their kids, their choice indeed ! These names are not too unusual.

  • I don’t think they’re that unusual at all. And when you understand the reason/meaning behind each, I think they’re lovely.

  • I don’t mind the names at all.
    I’ve heard WAY worse..

We’ve been floating the idea of Adelaide for a girls name .. but the fact we live in Australia and never been there I would like to also avoid people’s odd opinions and story’s or connections to the place so as much as I want to I don’t think we will settle on it.
