Coloured Ice painting! Let the Mess begin.

Material

  • 1 Ice Cube Tray
  • Water for Ice
  • Multiple Food Colouring

Method

  1. Put drops of different colours in each ice cube space, get creative and even mix colours, the kids will love seeing the mixtures.
  2. Fill tray with water, be careful not to overfill. Then place in Freezer.
  3. Once the cubes are set, empty them out onto cardboard and let the fun begin. The colour mixing is heaps of fun and so much learning is done.

Notes

This is a fun Summer activity for outside. You can always just let them mix the colours in tubs and pools if you don't have card handy. the children love watching the colours mix together and also the fun of trying to hold the ice, which can get slippery :)

  • I used to stick a paddle pop in each ice cube before freezing so the children had something to hold on to for a while to prevent frozen fingers.
