Hello!

Finding the perfect little (or big) something for a mum-to-be is so much easier with a baby shower gift registry. It means mum gets what she and baby need (and want!) and baby shower guests aren’t second-guessing what to buy.

A baby shower gift registry also makes it so much easier to purchase a gift because you can do everything online. It’s perfect if you’re unable to attend the baby shower, just have the gift shipped straight to the lucky mum-to-be, with many registries also offering gift wrapping. There are still also plenty of stores that do in-store registries, so you can go and look at everything before making a decision.

How does a baby shower gift registry work?

A baby shower gift registry is set up by a mum and dad-to-be to help baby shower guests choose the perfect gifts. It means the new parents won’t end up with 20 onesies and three nappy bags!

As the expecting parent, you’re able to set up a baby shower gift registry online at several different retailers (we’ve listed our favourites below). You’ll need to put in details like your name, email address and also postage address if you want guests who can’t make it to your shower to still be able to send you a gift.

Once you’ve set up the registry with all of the items you’d like, you’ll be able to either email the list or send your guests details to find your list on whichever store website you choose.

What are the benefits of a baby shower gift registry?

The main benefit of a baby shower gift registry for the expecting mum is knowing she won’t get double-ups of gifts, and she’ll be able to choose things she really wants and needs for the baby and herself. From organic nappy rash cream and bathtime products to must-haves for your new nursery, you get to choose exactly what you’ll receive.

For guests, it means taking the guesswork out of choosing a gift for the mum-to-be! And there’s usually a wide variety of gifts chosen so you’ll be able to find something within your budget.

  • These sites are such an excellent idea. I was lucky to receive things I wanted or needed, but know many other mums who were gifted things with great intentions but they had no use for it. It can be hard and awkward to ask for things, this can make the process so much easier for everyone.

  • This is all so high tech these days.
I got heaps of clothes, wipes and nappies when I had my baby shower and everything got used.

    Reply

  • I never did a gift registry as I don’t think it’s the right thing.

    Reply

  • I have never had a baby shower. I really dont like things like this where I feel like im asking people to spend money on me.

    • No me neither. It has too much of making clear what you want and making sure that you get what you want. Whereas a humble and grateful attitude on receiving a spontanious gift is in my opinion more appropriate

  • I think it’s great to have and show people options then they can buy elsewhere if cheaper

    Reply

  • Worthy idea, but sometimes the expectant mother can get carried away when a price range is concerned.

    Reply

  • I would have loved a registry for my kids. Some of these look incredible. I like the idea of being able to get everything from one place.

    Reply

  • So many options! I didn’t have a registry, just received heartfelt gifts from loved ones.

    • Heartfelt gift from loved ones are the best !

    Reply

  • I had a very small baby shower. I think it was my mum and mother in law, my sisters and sisters in law. No registry. Can’t go wrong with nappy cakes!

    Reply

  • Baby shower registry’s are awesome but can end up being over the top by some expectation mothers. The gift get really expensive. Baby showers use to be about having fun ????

    Reply

  • I don’t love a registry. I don’t love a baby shower. I didn’t have either. It feels icky; a grab for gifts followed by more gifts when the baby’s born. A great idea for some, I guess.

    Reply

  • I’ve only been to one baby shower and they never had a gift registry. In some way it is handy for a large gift to be able to put in, but also impersonal as well and not being able to choose what you’d really like to give.

    Reply

  • I wouldn’t be comfortable having a registry. Honestly I was grateful for anything I was given. I wouldn’t feel right expecting people to buy me anything let alone specifics ..

    Reply

  • None of my friends ever had a baby shower so I never knew anything about baby registries. It’s certainly a good idea for those who just don’t know what to buy.

    Reply

  • I love surprises and always preferred to not know about gifts until they arrived or were received.

    Reply

  • I didn’t have a baby shower. My sister in law had a baby registry. But I only found out after I got some presents.

    Reply

  • I don’t know anyone who’s used a baby registry… I don’t know, kind of takes away some of the pleasure of choosing something personal…

    • I agree, I like a personal and well considered gift from people.

    Reply

  • I wasn’t a fan of a baby shower, I never had one for my babies. I think handing out gift lists to guests is a bit rude though

    Reply

  • I’ve never been a fan of any type of gift registry. I find it rude. I would rather have some lovely surprises from family and friends. Their choices are thoughtful. If someone asked what I wanted I would give suggestions, but that’s it.

    Reply

  • I didn’t do a gift registry and think people should be able to buy you what they want and can afford not be restricted to a register
