When is Black Friday 2024?
This year Black Friday is Friday, 29 November, 2024.
What is Black Friday?
Black Friday is a huge retail event across the globe, and it marks the start of the Christmas retail period. It actually originated in the US, as a sale that followed Thanksgiving.
So, why is it called Black Friday? It’s thought that the name came from the large numbers of people who flock to the shops for the sales and cause huge disruptions. Others believe it’s because it marks when retailers in the US begin to head from the red into the black and turn a profit.
While it started in America, Australian have embraced Black Friday in recent years – and we’re not at at all mad about it!
