Celebrate grandfathers everywhere with Dear Grandpa – we have 10 copies of this beautiful book up for grabs!

‘Where birds are made of rainbows and foxes are furry and shy, we can spy’.

Join Bea as her imagination takes her on a journey to all her favourite places with her grandpa in a hand written letter.

Jacinta was inspired by her grandparents’ love and knowledge of nature and creating fun from the simple things in life, which was passed down to her and now to her children through her parents.

The story highlights the importance of these relationships and how they can enrich our lives, as well as the connections with elders and how they can nourish a growing child’s mind through their rich knowledge of the world around them.

This book is proudly printed on FSC certified 100% recycled paper and printed in Australia.

  • Grandpa worked at Bournville Cadburys from the age of 16. There’s a staff shop where employees can buy inexpensive chocolate – he’d bring home pound paper bags of hazelnut whirls. After he died, Grandma who had a “Widows card”, took us and treated us to lunch in the employee’s cafe.

  • At their home, one filled with so much love and comfort, relaxing, old, but full of such happy times, where there seemed no worries in the world.

  • I just love sitting with my pop in their lounge watch telly.

  • When we were young we’d have family get togethers at the beach including the Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and Cousins. Wonderful memories!

  • When my pop was alive, he loved on a lake and we would spend a lot of time on they jetty or out on his boat.

  • Their friends place in Nowra.. On the coast – it always felt like a haunted house.. it was equally exciting and terrifying,

  • We love to go to the lake for a walk

  • Their home. We only see them a handful of times a year as they live six hours away, but we cherish the opportunities we get to spend together.

  • Their house, so many great memories of the garden and all the unique things at their place.

  • We went on a holiday to Stradbroke Island and I had the best memories there. Will never forget.

  • Picking fresh fruit from the garden we all adore
To make culinary delights, treats and so much more
Cooking in the kitchen together is a pleasure

  • Parks near their home in Melbourne

  • I never met any of my grandparents. I myself like to go on nature walks with my grandson. Kids minds are so inquisitive and they’re so excited by nature. Each walk is a new adventure

  • My favourite Childhood memory was going to Nonno’s and Nanna’s house, Nonno taking us to his very proud vegetable garden. He would the give us a carrot each once he washed it

  • My grandparents never looked after me. Although I did love going to their houses. My mums parents had a huge cubby we would all play in and a swing set. My pop lived in the desert and we once dug an underground garage in a hill.
