15 lucky winners will receive the latest book from Marianne Vicelich; Mother, valued at $29.99!

On first encounter, a narcissist may appear driven, charismatic, ambitious, disciplined and even fun. Narcissism is a trait each of us exhibits to a greater or lesser degree. It fuels the confidence to take risks, however, it may also fuel from pathological antagonism, characterised by grandiosity and attention-seeking.

In a society obsessed with wealth, status and appearance, the label narcissist is used everywhere. However, it is widely misused to describe anyone who offends us. The synonyms of narcissism include conceit, egoism, self-admiration, self-obsession and vanity as an obvious reoccurring theme.

Destruction focuses on the high-level narcissist, masters of charm and purveyors of magnetism. Meeting one of these individuals is a memorable experience, whether the encounter is positive, negative or somewhere in between. Narcissists beguile and persuade with a special brand of magic.

Destruction arms readers with the knowledge of how to recognise if they are in a relationship with a narcissist and how to determine those red flags immediately. Being oblivious and ignorant of the unconscious motives, psychopathology and causes of the narcissistic personality disorder is dangerous and damaging to those who naively interact with them.

This book supplies readers with the coping tactics to move forward, beyond self-detrimental tendencies and towards a positive future which they can choose friendships and relationships competently.

  • my sister is as narcicistic as they come. Everyone thinks she is just wonderful but her true colours come out behind closed doors

  • Nope….I interviewed one once and it was the most frustrating experience of my life….I was glad when it was over

  • Yes, initially but not in the end as it became awkward to react and response.

  • Possibly but I tend to move on quickly if I feel out of my depth. Some people may think its flighty but I think Im just selective and wary.

  • Yes – initially they are very charming and part of their charm is their determination. They know what they want and that can be very alluring. It takes all types to make up this big world and sometime narcissists get a bad wrap.

  • Yes of course, but I grew bored of them and moved onto a man who treats me like a Queen!

  • Yes. I married him. He charmed me with lavish holidays. Once married he controlled all my money, wouldn’t let me hang out with my friends, told me I was socially retarded and made me feel like I was a inch tall. He destroyed my confidence. Thankfully I’m out of that relationship now!

  • I suspect I have but Im really not sure that is why I am dying to win this book – to help me work out if I ever was and how to avoid it happening ever again!!

  • Common trend with me. It was a tragic fact in my relationships. I had my own personal struggles, no confidence in myself and a narcissist boyfriend. I eventually found the strength to see beyond my tears and suffering and took on a fight to free myself on this trend.

  • Yep, but learnt very quickly and told him exactly what he was, he didnt like it, until he met some one just like himself.

  • Yes! My ex. I thought he was the world. So did the 2 other girls he was seeing! He contacted me a few years ago thinking I would still be pining after him. News flash! Happily married and never gave him a second thought. That was a blow to the ego!

  • Yes but thankfully I saw sense and removed the charismatic person put of my life. I can say I am stronger for it now though.

  • No thank goodness.

  • No I haven’t but I grew up in Germany. People are not nice when it comes to this topic

  • Yes totally embarrassed to say
