Wine That Tastes Like A Raspberry Lamington? Take. My. Money. - Mouths of Mums

A raspberry lamington. In wine form. Say less.

Raspberry Lamington Rosé is a new sparkling wine inspired by the classic Aussie cake, complete with raspberry, coconut and vanilla flavours. And yes, it’s actually a wine.

The unexpected creation comes from Patisserie Wines, which has teamed up with renowned Australian pâtissier Reece Hignell, the man behind Cakeboi, to bring one of his signature creations to life in a glass.

If you’ve ever been partial to a raspberry lamington, this one might just take your afternoon tea to the next level.

A childhood favourite, with a little fizz

The new Sparkling Raspberry Lamington Rosé takes inspiration from Hignell’s signature cake, combining bright raspberry flavours with hints of coconut and vanilla, finished with a delicate sparkle.

It’s designed to evoke the flavours of the much-loved dessert, rather than simply being another bottle of rosé on the shelf.

For Reece, the collaboration also has a sentimental side.

“The Raspberry Lamington has been one of my favourite signature cakes ever since I used to make it with my Nan, so the opportunity to bring it to life in a completely different way was incredibly exciting,” Reece said.

He worked closely with the Patisserie Wines team throughout development, helping to capture the familiar flavours of raspberry jelly, coconut and vanilla.

It’s a sweet little twist on a classic.

Dessert-inspired wine is having a moment

Patisserie Wines launched in 2025 with a playful concept: taking inspiration from familiar desserts and sweet treats to create wines that offer something a little different.

The Raspberry Lamington Rosé is the latest addition to the collection, bringing together the world of French-inspired pâtisserie and an unmistakably Australian favourite.

The Patisserie Sparkling Raspberry Lamington Rosé is available nationally at Dan Murphy’s, for $26.99.

Would you give a raspberry lamington-inspired wine a try, or should some things just be left as cake? Let us know in the comments!

  • I like a glass or two of wine especially in summer. Not sure about a wine that tastes like Raspberry Lamington though, that might be a bit too much flavour. I would be keen to try it but normally I like a dry wine. The cost is a little higher than i like to spend on wine however for a treat, it would be worthwhile trying for sure.

  • Not a wine drinker personally but definitely a wine appreciator.
I love smelling the different notes in wines.
I think this would smell amazing.
I’d happily sit with a glass just to enjoy the smell and the beautiful bottle it also comes in.
It would be a fantastic wine for a wedding or party too.

  • How cool is that?! I do not usually drink wine as I find the taste too dry for me, but I do like fortified wines. I think with this flavour profile, this particular wine does sound like a winner. I would definitely like to give it a try and see if I like it.

  • Gosh that sounds lush. Raspberry Lamingtons are my favourite. That combined with the coconut and vanilla sounds very decadent. Its very suited for the coming spring and summer months when you want something sweet and refreshing. Love a sparkling rose and it has a lovely blush colour, the bottle is pretty too.

  • Oh my goodness I need to try this immediately! It sounds absolutely lush. I love a sweet rose, so this would be something I could see myself enjoying over the summer. Definitely a fun sip to bring along to Christmas lunch. I also love the bottle design, very cute glass pattern.
