Aussie kids’ skateboard brand, Ookkie has announced the expansion of their world first learner skateboard range with handles, with brand new Mint and Purple boards being added to their incredibly popular range, following the launch of their latest lightweight design that is now even easier to set up and pack down than ever before. To celebrate, we are giving one lucky reader the chance to win an Ookkie skateboard for their kids!

Ookkie Skateboards are the first of their kind in the world, boasting a handle so parents can hold onto their toddlers to help teach them the balance they need to learn how to skate, while the little riders can also hold onto their very own handle. These boards for beginners can also help develop core strength and stability, with some little skaters using them as young as 10 months old!

Revolutionising how kids learn to skate, the Ookkie is also a great alternative to prams for many families, as it’s easy to set up and packdown, fitting into the boot of any car – perfect for mums on the go! Ookkie aims to encourage families to get out and about in the great outdoors whilst kids learn to skate in the safest way possible.

For young riders who are confident in standing up and are skateboarding in a safe, protected environment, the parent’s handle can be removed so the board can be used with only the children’s handle. This phase allows the rider to explore ‘pushing’ and making the board move without assistance, but still provides balance support for the child.

Finally, when your little one is ultra-confident on their Ookkie, they can remove all handles and use the skateboard on it’s own without any parental or handle assistance. Each of these setting options are easy to set up and the Ookkie height is adjustable for both the parents and the kids so this training skateboard can be used by anyone.

Founded in 2016 by Aussie Dad and tradie, Daniel De Gaye, the Ookkie Skateboard was created with one goal in mind – to get children learning to skateboard earlier. As a skateboarder himself, Daniel wanted to teach his son how to ride a board safely whilst also developing fundamental balance, stability and confidence.

  • My little boy would love this in a few months!

  • Our boys love watching other kids skateboarding, wishing they could be so talented when they get older, Ookkie will train them safely and confidently, so when the time is right they could own a skateboard themselves.

  • My twins love everything with wheels. They would love to learn how to use a skateboard.

  • My 3-year-old nephew is obsessed with watching the ‘big kids’ skateboard in the park and would love an OOKKIE to help start him boarding. (He also thinks his dog needs a skateboard, as someone told him that it is a ‘Border’ Collie!)

  • My grandson would think he is the bee’s knees with one of these.

  • I tried to teach my son to skateboard. Turns out I’m no good at teaching or skating for that matter. We need all the help we can get.

  • It would be amazing for daily adventures!

  • My kids are bigger, but their 1 and 3 year old cousins would love these as willain is just learning to walk.

  • My children are too old
    For an experience like this
    But my nephew is 2
    And he wouldn’t miss
    An opportunity to spend time
    At the local park
    “You’re my favourite Aunty”
    He would remark

  • They are little dare devils and would love to try an Ookkie skateboard – so far I’ve told them no but I think this one would convince me to let them have a go.

  • I think the kids would feel safe on the Ookkie knowing Mum or Dad has the control to keep them safe until they’ve learnt the skills to be confident enough on their own!

  • Actually, we (parents and kid) would love an Ookie. This will be another incentive for us to get out of the house, even during this winter time.

  • An Ookkie would be perfect for my little dude
Skating along the foreshore, what a vibe, what a mood!
His Gramps was a skater, now too old for that
But to take his grandson coasting, now that would be PHAT!

  • An Ookie would be great for my son. He loves being in the outdoors and this is a great excuse to head outside!

  • It’s so Ookkie Dookie thing to do …

  • My daughter would love the Ookkie as we are trying to teach her how to skate and this would give her an extra level of confidence to start out with.

  • It’d get them out and about

  • My little girl is a bit to young for this now, but I think shed absolutely love it when she is big enough, she’s a bit of a thrill seeker / dare devil now!

  • I’m a Mum of two super active boys aged 2 & 1 years old. I can only imagine the hours of fun this would provide and the years of memories created together as a family.

  • I have a 1 year old son and a 3 year old. My eldest is a bit weary of getting on a scooter but one like this might help him to give it a go!
