I know my name is pretty much dead in the water! Correct me if I am wrong – I do believe lots of these names are still being used today as middles names?

How else can we save these good old names from becoming a distant memory?

Will your name survive another generation?

  • Ha! I am on that list, as is my sister and brother. I love that my name is not so common.

  • I agree most of these names will come back and be popular again. A lot are used as middle names so theyre not actually lost. And using a middle name is usually a reference to a family member so are still special.

  • I hope a lot of these names will become popular again!
A lot of them are used as middle names now as I don’t think the traditional truly do go out of style.
I much prefer a traditional name my child can say to a unique one they are unable to pronounce!

  • Piff sorry but I feel this is a load phooey.
Now there’s a word you don’t often here.

  • Some of them were the most popular new of kids in my primary school… We had like 5 Jessica’s in the class! Most will come back after they’re not seen as so popular

  • The popularity of names change all of the time and it does depend on location/country.

  • I do believe a lot of these names will one day be popular again.

  • My name ‘Leanne’ will become extinct! I’m okay with that. It makes me more unique! When I was young, I was sad that there were so few people who shared my name; no famous people; no songs written about me. I’ve grown into my name and am now happy with it. There’s a whole new generation of interesting names. However, like most fads and trends, things do come back in vogue again. So maybe there will be a resurgence way in the future.

  • My name is in the list of names that decreased in popularity. Actually I like that. I wouldn’t like to have a very common name! :-)
