Every December I like to have a stash of homemade sweet treats ready to hand out. They end up in teachers’ gifts, neighbour drop-offs and those last-minute visits where you want to bring something small but thoughtful.

This Grown Up Christmas Bark has become one of my favourites because it takes almost no effort but looks gorgeous and tastes amazing.

We’re proudly working with IGA to bring you this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 blocks milk or dark chocolate
  • 1 block white chocolate
  • 1/2 cup pistachios
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup crystallised ginger
  • 1 pack choc mint biscuits
  • candy canes

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate and chop all of the other ingredients
  2. Line a baking tray with baking paper, pour in the milk chocolate, then half the white chocolate and swirl.
  3. Sprinkle over the toppings and drizzle with more white chocolate
  4. Set aside to cool and harden then break up into chunks.

  • Oh i love this recipe. It looks so fun and easy to make with each bite offering something a little bit different! I love everything about this except the ginger. It’s probably the one ingredient i would leave out if i was to make this as i hate ginger with a passion! Haha

  • I’d like to try this recipe as it looks delicious and easy to make. The mix of milk or dark chocolate with white chocolate sounds rich, and the pistachios, cranberries but minus the ginger for me. Adding choc mint biscuits and candy canes gives it a festive touch. Perfect to take along to a Christmas party.

  • I really do plan on making this delicious looking Christmas bark and will also add some yummy additions to the recipe. I will also add some coloured candy canes to the recipe for pops of colour. This Christmas bark will be a very welcome addition to Christmas bags and hampers.

  • I read the title and was a bit exited about an adult version of Christmas bark; it there possibly an ingredient missing; possibly alcohol? Is it at the discretion of the person making the Christmas bark to add their favourite alcohol to the recipe? It sounds very easy and simple to prepare and to make and it looks good too.

  • Very colourful and enticing. To be honest, when I read “Grown Up Christmas Bark”, I assumed there would be rum or sherry. Reading the ingredient list, I was surprised to see this was not the case. There’s a lot of sugar in this recipe. But looks very impressive with all the colours. Nice!

  • Reading the title of “Grown up Christmas bark” I actually expected that the recipe would ask for alcohol in the ingredients list. So I wonder why this recipe is called “Grown up Christmas bark” ? I can imagine with the harder pieces of nuts and candy cane you wouldn’t give it to toddler or younger children. But I would have thought this could be eaten by school kids ?
