A mouthwatering Christmas (or anytime!) entree that’s the work of just minutes.

The sweetness of the pears and honey coupled with the sharp blue cheese is a sweet and savoury match made in heaven!

We’re proudly working with IGA to bring you this recipe.

Ingredients

  • pears
  • honey
  • blue cheese
  • walnuts

Method

  1. Slice pears in half. You can core them but honestly I couldn’t get them out with a spoon so I just took out the seeds (why complicate things)
  2. Drizzle pears in honey then bake at 180 degrees fan forced for about 10 mins then flip and bake for another 10 minutes or until golden/soft.
  3. Remove from oven then top with blue cheese and walnuts.

  • They look beautiful! Love pears and love them more in a dessert. I like that it’s only a 4 ingredient list that makes it quick and easy to whip up on Christmas Day. Thanks for sharing your recipe with us! I’ll definitely give this one a go and see if my kids enjoy.

  • Im not a huge fan of blue cheese but im thinking with the sweetness added this might be something I would be willing to try.
When I lived in a different location a friend of mine had and old pear tree that was over 100 years old. I would make chutney with the fruit

  • It is extremely lucky for us that we recently bought some delicious local honey and blue cheese from the markets. We will try this recipe out before Christmas time and possibly then include it on the Christmas menu. It will be fun to figure out what wine will go well with this dish.

  • I really do love to eat dairy foods and to eat delicious cheese and blue cheese is a favourite cheese to eat. It is a terrific cheese to pair with fruit; particularly pears. This recipe sounds simple and easy to make and would also look impressive served up on a plate.

  • Pear with blue cheese is such a great combination ! I love it in a rocket salad presented together with nuts. I prefer the pear not baked or cooked but just a nice raw ripe pear. Personally I would bake with honey. Heating honey strips the honey from all it’s beautiful nutritional benefits and it becomes actually a sugary syrup. Better to bake with maple syrup or yacon syrup.

  • That’s one thing I’ve never tried or made… baked pears. This recipe will inspire me to give it a go. To be honest, I’m not a fan of blue cheese but then again, I’ve never tried it with something sweet like honey. This is so simple to make and just 4 ingredients, too! Win win.
